You've done something in this video I've not seen ANYONE else do anywhere... and that's use a feature of the product you're reviewing as part of your sponsor "commercial"--in this case the line audio capability of the camera. That's brilliant, and you should market to your sponsors this unique and creative approach. Typically I skip past the sponsorship schpeal and get back to the video, but because you were in demonstration mode of the audio, I was compelled to listen to you talk about the sponsor...just brilliant!

Seems Nikon is the only full frame camera maker that isn't clearly kneecapping their lower end bodies to protect the higher end. This is the way it should be. Newer, lower end cameras SHOULD be better than older high end cameras.
@TechnoBabble
@TechnoBabble 3 ай бұрын
@@oatsgoats39 New tech costs a lot in R&D, they need to make their money back on anything they develop. They can't use brand new stuff and then sell it in a low end body for cheap. That should just be obvious. What I'm referencing are examples like Sony LOWERING the framerate on their new cameras to try and push people towards the A9 and A1 if they need any kind of speed, despite the increasing amount of processing power and faster storage solutions. For example: A7R III did 10fps uncompressed RAW, the A7R IV does 7fps. The A7 III did 10fps uncompressed RAW, the A7 IV does 6fps. Then you have Canon: The R6 II absolutely should have been able to do 4k120 with binning/line skipping/cropping, but then nobody would have a reason to buy the R5 for video other than 8k. And speaking of that; the readout speed of the R6 II sensor would also have allowed it to record full width 6k video (even open gate 6k, actually), but then the R5's resolution advantage would be severely diminished. Panasonic doesn't limit their stuff as much, but they don't release cameras nearly as often.

@@michaelblack4803 Sure, better overall, as they should be. But the fact that the Z6 has ANY features that are significantly better, like the full resolution 120fps JPEGs for 1000 shots, is amazing. I'm so tired of Sony dragging their feet and kneecapping their cameras so that the only option for anything fast is the A9 or A1.

I have watched test on CineD lattitude test, and I have learned a lot about how latitude is a much better representation of DR than Imatest Xyla chart. The Burano for example showed a bit average DR, but in the latitude test, it was comparable to the orriginal Arri Alexa at 10 lattitude stops. While most sonys stopped at eight, the Z9 surprisingly 8.5-9 and the likes of RED raptor at 9+. I don't know if it is the same, but that low light is so clean, that it could be a bit the same as the Burano.

The specs are impressive but don't you think it's a step back in terms of DR. The S5II got 12.4 stops. I don't shoot much so don't know if 2 stops less of DR affects the image much. I'd rather have 4K60 uncropped and 12.5+ stops of DR. The S1H II should pull it off. Then again the price difference. I should just shut up!

Just remember folks, the A7IV got 12.6 stops and A7S III got 12.8 stops, while the Z6 III gets 12.5 stops DR after using a better log and NR in post. It looks like there is more flexibility in post vs NR in camera like the Sony or Canons. BUT, I returned my Z6 III due to significant color shifts and flickering. On paper, the Z6 III is unbeatable. In reality, those issues made it unusable. Hopefully Nikon fixes it, but almost 2 months they haven't said a thing. You can see the color shift/flickering in Gerald's video 7:20 as he scrolls through 1600-3200-5000 ISO.

I had the xh2s...now the s5iix and z8. In nraw, I easily manage to have the same curve (contrast etc.) as the v-log (f-log 2 and v-log and very similar) and I prefer the final result of the z8 (after color grading). On the other hand, I think that n-log in h265 is equivalent to f-log1. When I look at the results in figures, I think that the z6iii and the z8 have +/- the same DR in video

You need to remember nikon does not bake noise reduction permanently into their nraw unlike what sony and canon does. That is why once that NR is applied, with the video on a 4k timeline, it jumps up to 12.5 stops. 12 stops+ is typical average performance for a camera at this price range. That is the price you pay for having a sub-10ms readout speed.

The focus on sensor readout was smart and is really needed to offset the STILL unrefined autofocus system. Manifacturers need to recognize that the z6iii and a74 are either purchased as a budget hybrid good at everything but not best, or as a backup to a flagship. If the flagship has a fast readout but your backup doesnt, then its a futile purchase. Personally i would just buy the a1 or Z9. 24 MP is just too little for me. I use the a1 as my primary and the a7r5 for high res jobs. Great combo.

Well if you have to use in the best video mode with this camera probably it's going to be high cost on memory chips and bunch of hard drives

Impressive an at $2500. As a Sony shooter I'm interested in what Sony's answer will be with the next iteration of its Alpha 7 series, the hopefully upcoming a7V.

Finally, Nikon fills a market segment where previous models were not competitive against the competition. But is it too late? In recent years, many photographers and photo enthusiasts have chosen to abandon the brand in favor of Sony, Canon, and Fuji. It's evident that since the production of mirrorless cameras began, Nikon has fallen behind. The new Nikon Z6 III seems to be an excellent camera on paper. Personally, I've always used Nikon, with their extraordinary DSLRs. I've also worked with the Nikon Z6 II professionally, but I found it unreliable for eye detection autofocus, etc. Consequently, I switched to Sony and, staying in the same segment, I find the Sony 7 IV exceptional. Moreover, Sony's lens lineup is very extensive. Despite Nikon's high-quality build, viewfinder, and display, I won't go back. I think too much importance is given to technology. Personally, what I look for in a professional camera is reliable autofocus, quality, and feel. With Sony, for years, I've been able to get what I had with Nikon DSLRs. I still hope that Nikon achieves the success it deserves with this new camera, but I think the competition is very fierce and that it's difficult for those who have switched to other brands to decide to go back, especially for economic reasons.
