The same. She thought she wasn’t pretty but had the loveliest of faces I’ve ever seen (& I’ve been around a good number of decades). She was free of guile, truly. What she wouldn’t say was written on her face. Her children have had 2 incredible parents. I do know though that her trauma and psychological scarring would’ve manifested themselves in nightmares and deep depression throughout her life. mfjdville we must recognise the beauty in everyone we encounter, we might realise too late many of our acquaintances was an angel in disguise.

What an extraordinary human being. I’m just in tears watching her story now that she’s passed away. As a Jehovah’s Witness, there were lots of our people in the holocaust as well so I’ve been reading about it my whole life but her story just makes me cry. Why did this have to happen. Mrs. Gerda Klein is a hero of mine. I cannot describe just how much her testimony has touched me, & blessed my life. I am currently reading her book All But My Life. She is a phenomenal woman. An amazing human being. A courageous & beautiful survivor. A proud American. I am waiting on Spielberg to make a movie based on Gerda's life, and the love story of Gerda & Kurt. Forget the fiction of The Notebook...Kurt & Gerda are real, true love. Proof of soul mates. We must never forget the Shoah. Today, antisemitism is rearing its ugly head. We must stand and be counted. Stand against racism, persecution, and discrimination. Remember truth. 🙏🏻🇺🇲✌🇮🇱

Regarding the standards by which I praise Gerda Weissmann Klein: There are many, and specific examples do not include the fact that she survived the Holocaust. In her own words, she testifies that compared to those who lost their lives, "I am no better." But examples that endear me to her life include 1) Exhibiting a spirit of humility & gratitude for her blessings, rather than bitterness regarding the trials in her life; 2) Her reverence for life and relationships--people matter to her. 3) Her attempted nurturance of and loyalty to those with whom she labored in slave labor situations and "death marches;" 4) Her establishing, with her husband (now deceased), a foundation to assist those faced with tragedy and other trials and tribulations; 5) Her openness about her early years and her maturing past complaining as a youth about spending "Another boring evening at home": 6). Her writings to young and old that uplift and encourage; 7) Her availability and willingness to be a witness to history to those who wish to learn about the holocaust and the value of family. Her post-holocaust journey to America and marriage to the soldier who rescued her heighten the possibility for anyone and everyone to never give up.

For some reason this Beautiful, Eloquent, Poised, and Loving Woman came to my Memory this Morning and I decided to look her up. I heard her story over 20+ years ago as a child in the 90's and she has always been imbedded in my heart because she reminds me so very much of my own Mother who survived Jim Crow in the South. I just realized today is 4/9/2023 and not only is it Easter today, but it is a Holy Day for the 3 major Religions: Christianity is celebrating Easter, Jews are celebrating the Passover, and Muslims are celebrating Ramadan all simultaneously. This is an occurrence that only happens every 33 years!!!! Whoa! 😮 Furthermore, my birthday is on the 9th. I'm so happy that her latter days were better than her former. God is a true Kinsman Redeemer. 🙏🏽 I can't wait to hug her in Heaven. 🫂 Rest In Eternal Peace Beloved. 💕✨💕

I don't know how exactly it happened in Germany, but just over the past 10 years here in the states, I've seen a massive shift in the way people talk about and treat their neighbors. I understand it comes from "both sides," but in my personal experience, I've gone from being called a liberal coward who doesn't 'get it' to a baby-eating demon worshipper who hates this country and should be shot. This obviously isn't a part of my daily discourse, fortunately, but more recently I have found that people get much more hostile if the topic of politics comes up. It's both depressing and frightening.

Thank you so much for sharing with me an infamous fragment of the Hitler's Nazi horrendous regimen. It must have been a painful odyssey it is to recollect such memories and to recount them. The crimes and cruelties committed against my sons and daughters, my fathers and mothers, my brothers and sisters hurt me deeply, regardless their ethnicity and nationality. In Isaiah 2: 4, Jehovah God, the Creator and Source of life, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, promises: "He will be judge among the nations and will settle matters in relation to many peoples. They will turn their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. The nations will no longer raise their swords against each other and learn no more to wage war." My immediate neighbors are Jews and I am a Jehovah's Witness. Their hearts are superior than pure gold by far. They are extremely kind. The gentleman takes care of my trash can every Wednesday without my asking him to do so. They are lovely human beings, and they are not in need of the smallest improvement.
