I was 20. The Sando was the centre of our universe. Crow had just amazed us with Li-lo-ing, our minds were still recovering from Dirty Three’s Horse Stories, and Gaslight Radio’s Singer is a Liar was on high rotation. And, lo, three young lads, each more diminutive than the next, then dropped G for Sadness. Our minds were blown and nothing was ever the same again. Thank you Darren and Presser. Even now, 24 years later and on the other side of the world, I still listen to Day of Research and am inspired.

Yo Darren, this is so so good. I've searched for years to hunt down Gerling releases as you guys meant so much to Sydney, still searching. Please PLEASE PLEASE, you guys get together and repress everything on vinyl. Albums, eps, 7s, do them all. Limit numbers to an extent, like a few thousand per album, obscure releases, all of it, and ya'll will move UNITS! Gerling played such a huge part in Sydney, you prob dont realise how much you guys meant to our city.

THE YEAR WAS 1842.... IT WAS TO BE MY 13TH NAME-DAY & MY TESTICLES HAD JUST DESCENDED.... When did 9 / 10ths o YT comment sections become repository for sad sack nostalgic & apocryphal (fake) stories about fkn concerts and the like? Or...is it just me? :-I And the music I enjoy (because being corralled into "liking" rap hasn't worked...yet?) Anyways...funny that the artwork stayed the same but much else changed. I like both styles, honestly. (4th and 6th songs here are great) whacky dance punk stuff and this, more Sunny Day Real Estate Genre-ish stuff. I like that Darren hasn't stopped following his muse ...his mind...etc...and keeps changing when does. All good stuff. Fare thee well... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimsy_Farmer
