Love it when you bushcrafters modify your gear to make it more useful to you, especially when you tackle fabrics, zippers, and sewing. The gluestick use to hold the fabric in place for the sewing machine stitching is especially noteworthy. Good for you!

I love using my one, one of the best packs I've had in a long time. I use it along with 2 of those swiss army waterbottles, they fit perfectly in the 2 side pockets. I'd recommend them to everyone

Hello...I write you from Germany. I like your ideas, your way and your videos very much. I'm a bit worried about living in germany , cause in the us your in generall the better chance to get got bushcraft typ gear. There is a such better market for this stuff. The ruck your video is about is really fantastic. In past I owned the same typ. Now I'm happy cause I got on the german surplus market a very , very rare typ of these pack. The very rare " big brother " of this pack. It's a kind of mountain pack with an y - frame. Your idea with the axe sleef I like. But much more and better the idea of the lid pocket. I will do it exactly like you have done. Very great idea. Thanks for the tip. But what I don't have understand exact is hy you change the german sleeping pad which fits perfect into the pack against the pad where you only can sit on. The sleeping pad is much versetile. You can sit and sleep on it. Thanks for this and your other videos. More please.... :-) Manuel

yes the pad acts like a frame for the pack..i will pull out the pad and use to sit on wet ground..and also i use the pad inside my hammock for extra warmth at night

Love this pack too. Had never thought about rolling up the straps, great idea! Blacky, you seem to care about scratching up your car just as much as I :)

Great mods to a great pack! Bought mine over a year and a half ago and its still in amazing condition, and IMHO it has one of the most comfortable set of shoulder straps around! Love the mod to the lid, will be doing that one myself. Replace the draw string with paracord or any other type of cord for another easy modification. All the best!

Oh man, I never realised you can do that rolling thing with the buckles! That saves a ton of time, thanks for sharing that!

Blackie, did you, or have you, mix up some beeswax, boiled linseed oil, and turpentine to waterproof treat your canvas bags??
@chuckbucket56938 жыл бұрын
love your vids. is that more like canvas or nylon? and can u fit the MMS sleep system in that pack and still have room for other gear?? thanks
@BLACKIETHOMAS8 жыл бұрын
there are two models they are the same except for the fact one is canvas and one is condura nylon..as to size it would be a tight fit for the whole sleep system..but i often carry the patrol bag or the black bag with this system

Who makes that short axe you dropped through the pocket, please. Do you like that better than a shorter hatchet.?

Now I really feel dumb, do you how long we have had this pack and never knew about the pass-through's ? Also utilizing the draw cord to hold your tomahawk in genius.If I send you a pack would you fix me up with flap pocket?? Just kidding I am going to try to do it, but as simple as it is I know I will swear a lot during this attempt.Thank you for posting and this great channel.
@BLACKIETHOMAS8 жыл бұрын
+Chacote Outdoor Recreation trace the flap on paper..now go all the way around and add one inch..now fold that over and glue or press the extra inch to the inside of the new flap.. figure where you want the zipper either with the flap open at the top or at the bottom so when the flap is folded back over the carry straps the zipper is on top..now sew in the zipper making sure it will be on the outside when complete...now i use a glue stick like kids use in school and glue the new inner flap into position on the inside of the pack flap..make sure everything is in the right place... if not.. you can move it around till glue dries..now once glue is dried carefulley sew around the flap from the inside to the outside..i have faith in ya.... you got this...safe journeys

+blackoracle69 Thank you, and please make some more videos, I thought I knew a little about percussion revolvers, and now I know that I will refer people to your channel, I have watched all your videos and love em all because its common man and common sense working in unity. You show a lot of affordable military surplus in your videos, if you do a video of your favorite piece of gear, I'm gonna put you in a contest I started.

Is the pack a Brandit, Bundesweher issue or MFH German pack?. Its difficult to know what you buy on the internet until you receive it. There are many Chinese copies also.
@BLACKIETHOMAS2 жыл бұрын
mine is a german issue
@n9oqu2 жыл бұрын
I just purchased a Brandit brand. It is cheaper than the FMJ or german government issue pack. My solution to waterproofing the contents of the pack will be to use a removable roll top liner and apply beeswax the entire shell of the pack if it does not have its own leather or plastic liner.
@baronedipiemonte39902 жыл бұрын
If it ships from China, DON'T get it. MFH, Brandit, and the smaller German Co's i.e. Schulz-Brake (mine) are ALL made to Bundeswehr specs. MilTec makes one but IDK if it's BW approved?. They are made in OD and Black Canvas. There's a UK store called Military 1st that offers the MFH in Canvas and Cordura in Flectarn camo. The canvas models go for $50-75 on eBay and Amazon. The Flectarn is only available on eBay from Military 1st. Cordura goes for $100...
