as a German, I must make a comment: In contrast to the raw sausages, the light sausages were already cooked before they are put on the grill. It's all about getting a nice crust and bringing the sausage up to temperature. The nice ladies made the grill become clearly too hot. The result are burst sausages whose content is bloated and as a result tastes almost foamy strange. unfortunately not a typical german grilled sausage.

Agreed! Weisswurst should not be cooked like a raw sausage. The German is right, when overcooked a weisswurst loses ton of flavor. And ketchup? My four year old does that😂

This is more like a strange Hot Dog. No one in Germany puts Sauerkraut on top of a Bratwurst. This is what Americans do, and think it's typical German. These girls are german, but i can tell you, we don't eat our Bratwurst like that. We serve it with a classic Bread roll (Brötchen) and Mustard on side, that's it.

Most Americans don't "think it's typical German", they just flatly don't care and like kraut on it. The general premise is that, like most street food, it's a meal that's been streamlined for portability sake. Most people wouldn't want to walk around with a plate of food when they could simply pile it onto a roll and be done with it.

Das ist Finger-Food! Die bei uns übliche Variante mit KaPü und Sauerkraut separat auf einem Teller passt da halt nicht. Außerdem ist Sauerkraut gesund und - wenn es von der milden Sorte ist - auch sehr lecker. Gönn den Engländern das doch ... ^^

Nothing against the sauerkraut, I am german and I like the kraut once in a while. But to really appreciate the taste of the sausage, put it in a bread, some mustard on it and maybe, maaybe a little bit of ketchup on it. And the bread is normally much, much more crunchy. Not like a hot dog bread, it has to be crunchy. I know this is not the original, but once you have tasted it like that, you will know the difference. No hate, I still like this.

Bratwurst here in US is smaller. I would love to get those shown. I like them on hotdog buns with brown polish mustard and sauerkraut. Ketchup is NOT cool on them except in California where they don’t know food from dirt.

In Germany we usually eat it the Bratwurst sausage with some mustard in a crunchy bread roll. So no spongy hotdog buns, no ketchup and no Sauerkraut. However, I'd give it a try and I can imagine it will taste better than any ordinary Hot Dog.

Please use sauerkraut on top of Bratwurst. Its perfect! If you like it, do it, and in germany a lot of people do it. If this video was about german potato-salad, 50% of germans would say it needs to be with vinegar and oil, 50% would say it needs to be with mayonaisse. So just eat it how you like it ♥
