“Old?” This is WWII. Still pics and film footage were shot using b&w film for the sharpest, clearest shots using a camera’s settings. Kodachrome was rarely used. It was expensive and pictures wouldn’t retain colors if not properly stored. Haven’t you ever seen old color film that has lost its original colors? Going into battle with a camera required reliable basics. Those guys were in the field almost as long as the soldiers were so there wasn’t much of a budget for such new luxuries as Kodachrome, much less a way to keep it preserved until they got to a way station.
