Not sure what is considered an average hoi4 hour count but I remember a month or so back that at around 300-350 hours of the game and a successful german WW2 run I decided to go Kaiser path. I was kinda afraid of the civil war part as I didnt know it would happen and it caught me by surprise. I managed to cut the enemy in half which I later learned was the best strat and easily eliminated the Nazis. I then decided to attack the Soviets first which unbeknownst to me was somehow easier despite being much less prepared because for some reason, playing as Kaiser makes the Soviet surrender much quicker at like 40% or smth instead of 20%. Sadly after learning that Wilhelm ll dies I just decided to abandon the run due to feeling unmotivated. Wilhelm lll just doesn't feel the same😢. That and also because I didnt expect the amount of manpower you lose when you dont have the cores you can get playing the usual german Nazi focuses.

I've been trying and retrying the German Empire for over a week. How the hell do you fight the Soviets? Their territory giving them so many factories and manpower with the Kaiserreich path only giving you Memel and Danzig makes it seem outright impossible to me.

@@spikem5950 Make sure you ally all the Soviet neighbours. I believe the align Hungary and romania paths don't have any prerequisites other than the previous focus. Then just focus your troops on your own front but spread your armour across the entire frontline and strike when they are vulnerable. Of course, try reinforcing your armour with your own infantry so you can micro. If not, just reduce the number of troops on your border and reinforce when the Soviets decide to attack. Winning the battles cause heavier casualties to the attacking side no matter how close it may seem. What you want to do is completely drain their armory by either destroying divisions or having them continuously attack you as they will think you are weak when you don't reinforce your frontline. Blitzkrieg is the obvious method to surround and destroy divs. This is how I normally fight the soviets, air be damned If you don't have the mils, just slap an anti air support on all your divisions and you'll be fine. Just make sure you don't take more than two years to push them pass their three majors (Moscow, Stalingrad, Leningrad) or wait for them to fight a major country before joining. I'm not sure if you know this, but the Soviets have massive debuffs that can be cleared 2-3 years into a war with a major country. If you wait too long, they are quite literally only getting stronger. I'd recommend fighting the Soviets first if you also want to fight the allies instead of the usual vice versa. I remember the allies being much more lenient since they don't like the Soviets and may actually ally you if you decide to fight them since they much prefer the Kaiser over the Fuhrer.

@@s.c.p-foundation6923 I did align Hungary and Romania, but it doesn't matter in the end because the AI is so dog-awful that allies are nothing but a liability. We were stomping the Soviets in terms of manpower loss with them attacking Poland, Finland (with me defending Poland and Finland), Turkey and Afghanistan all at once, but it was impossible to push, all battles would show up as a loss no matter how I played due to the insane number of divisions they have, and then Poland kept suicide charging their units into Soviet lines so much that our side ended up with more manpower loss. How the hell do you fight the Soviets first? I don't have the manpower to field an army capable of attacking them. Without annexing half of Europe as usual for Germany your manpower is severely limited. I gave up on that save and on my current one I'm in 1946 with three full stacks of infantry, two panzer armies and running low on manpower. It still constantly shows an attack against France would be to my disadvantage. And the way the focus tree works there's no way to attack them besides the Maginot Line. I could only imagine how much worse off I'd be attacking the Soviets if France has an advantage over me.

In a normal game I would only need to start Barbarossa with 4 infantry armies (on my main front) and 16 tank divs in 1940-1941 whilst have an army or two protect allied fronts behind favourable terrain. I usually focus on trying to encircle as much as possible and slowly peel armies from other fronts to end up with 2 full marshals to cap the Soviets. Did you take too long or join the war too late? You have to make sure the Soviets don't get enough time to remove their debuffs or they will be on par with Germany in every aspect but with superior manpower. With France you have no other choice than to go around the Maginot. Just declare on the low lands manually if you have to. Do you have the no step back dlc? Maybe your tank design just isn't good.
