Your videos are some of my favorite of all the countless World War 2 AFV videos that I've seen. It consumes a massive part of my free time( and work time also! lol) but please keep researching and posting these! It doesn't go unnoticed and unappreciated in my opinion. It's amazing to see the unofficial designations and the true skills of the men who either purpose built them or just made do with what they had.

some of these were very good conversions by Major Becker's unit. A lot of the rest were ad-hoc by individual units or armies with little real capacity to make proper tanks.

Becker is the godfather of heavy technicals, like Makhno is for light technicals. We can make a movie about Becker helping some amateur tank builders rob a bank...

@@steffenrosmus9177 Not correct Steffen. for example the 3.7 cm Pak on the Krupp-Protze. The sheet metal has been attached in the field as well as the cannon was mounted. Normally the Pak was drawn by it not mounted on it. This is for me an example of a converted utility vehicle. BTW here you see a Video of the original kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4nUiWOufc-Zd9E there exists also other variants with Flak.

@@steffenrosmus9177 read the title again, it says nothing about private vehicles. All it says is Utility!!! And the L 2 H 43 as well 143 where clearly utility vehicles. What i forgot: The only variant was the Sonderkampffahrzeug 247 (10 pieces built) that evolved on the Protze-Base. But even that variant was not used in battle, it was used for parade purposes.

It bears mention that some of these weren’t really homemade but were actual factory refits to use obsolete vehicles in desperately needed positions, for example the half tracks with nebelwerfers and 75mm‘s.

Do you know how many times the Americans engaged in combat with Tigers in France '44 ? 2x.... Twice. And one of those was when an American reconnaissance troop surprised a number of damaged Tigers being loaded on rail flat cars that were about to be sent to Germany for repair. They captured/ destroyed the Tigers with armoured cars.

There's a difference in being used in combat and being used as a gate guard The Syrians did use WW2 German equipment against the Israelis and in the recent Ukrainian/ Russian /Balkan conflicts, there are stories of " Russian Gate Guards" being reactivated.

Generally, a lot of presented vehicles were regular types , but made in short series. Lot of utility vehicles and armoured vehices have used the same carriage and engine. For example SdKfz 250 and SdKfz 251 had regular german halftruck carriage and had only different body. Movie is very good itself, but i think it would be better if You change the title for "German rare armoured vehicles and homemade tanks of World WarII" Then You can put almost everything to Your materials and nobody could say no word :)

The Renault UE 57 is armed with 57mm British 6-pounder anti-tank gun and The was only one prototype made and after a disappointing trail they stripped the tank of it weapons and returned it to a artillery tractor. The Renault UE 57 never saw action. The one in the picture is the right tank.

basicly every tank chassis during WW2 got a version without a turret and just some bigger casemate antitank/artillery gun put on.... same with trucks. why bother with towing a 88 with all the redeploying and packaging when you can make it mobile for mobile warfare. anything you put an 88 (or any other BFG) on is a fking nightmare. homemade is the wrong word for that ^^

Because they towed the majority with horses... Germany not only had an acute shortage of motorized transport, but an even bigger shortage of petroleum products to support them...

Stupid and bad work. Calling the sdkfz 251 with the short 7,5 cm gun improvised doesn’t make any sense. Is the 105 mm Stryker improvised? It is far more effective to use the same platform for different tasks! Sharing parts improves logistics. Logistic wins!
