Your story about your kids wanting to hug you when you come home reminded me of the time when I was a kid. I was always allowed to stay up until my dad would come home, which could also be after 11pm (probably contributed to my sleeping disorders) but I'd run to him and scream DAAAAAAD and jumped into his arms. You do that stuff until you get too heavy and the relationship starts to become more complicated. I really miss how simple everything was as a kid 😅

As the self-proclaimed Archivist of CC Lore, I've been posting the channel's tips for criminals since it began. But Simon and the gang have good lessons for non-criminals too, allegedly, in my opinion. Everything here is a quote or paraphrasing of something Simon has said or the excellent CC writers have written. (Lightly edited for clarity and brevity.) RULES FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS A1. Don't fuck up your kids. It makes monsters. A2. Don't fuck your kids. Figuratively or literally. A3. Yo, yo, yo, parents: If you find your kid killing a cat, torturing a cat, killing a dog... get them into therapy or to see a psychiatrist. A4. Look after your kids, people. A5. It's not hard to not beat children. A6. All you parents of twins... keep an eye on those little monsters for all of our sakes. A7. Don't have your kid pass messages to your mistresses. A8. Don't make it weird and hopefully your kids won't grow up weird. A9. Don't leave your children with murderous grandmas. A10. Let's not have kids with guns. A11. Parents, please don't be encouraging your kids to clip murders and put them in a scrapbook, or someday you're going to be listening to a true crime podcast about your children. A12. If your kid is showing a lot of interest in school massacres - reading about them and talking about them, idolizing the perpetrators - therapy! Not therapy... what's that other thing? Psychiatry! Get them to a professional, get them help. A13. Monitor the activity of your children online. Probably best that parents make sure your little angels haven't been recruited as a personal assassin for some catfishing incel. A14. Do not leave your 5 year old sister alone with anyone. A15. Teach your kids if a stranger tries to take them, yell "You're not my mum! You're not my dad!" rather than just screaming. A16. Someone saying, "There is no hope, I want to die," that is not a normal teenage mood swing. They should be checked into by a professional to make sure they're ok. A17. Twelve is too many children. A18. If your kid is super-smart, getting moved ahead a couple of years has this massive disadvantage of everyone being like, "Well, you're a massive nerd because you're so smart and you're also a lot smaller and less mature than us." Seems like a terrible thing to do to a person. A19. Bring Your Kid to Work Day doesn't apply to drug dealers. TO REPORT CHILD ABUSE In the US - 1-800-422-4453 childhelphotline.org/ In the UK - 0808-800-5000 www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/reporting-abuse/report/ STANCES OF THE CC CREW (Expressed by one or more writers and/or Simon.) B1. Here at Casual Criminalist, we don't recommend doing crimes. Crimes are bad. B2. The past was the worst. B3. It's totally, seriously ok to see a therapist. B4. Murder is bad. Don't murder people. B5. All terrorists are bad. B6. It's really bad when people get kidnapped. B7. Domestic abuse is a piece of shit. B8. We're not condoning arson. B9. Gambling is fucking horrible. B10. There is no excuse for murder. No matter what your background is, there's no excuse. B11. We're not condoning vampirism. B12. Corruption is really bad. B13. Science is cool. B14. We will not be condoning the spiking of soups nor the consumption of angel dust. B15. Bail is stupid. B16. Racism is stupid. B17. Designer clothes for babies is stupid. B18. Negotiating with terrorists encourages more terrorism. It's super-logical. B19. Diamonds are a con. B20. Alternative lifestyles are ok, but not when they're white supremacy. B21. Facebook sucks. B22. Murder isn't a proportional response to being disrespected. B23. Journalists are the last beacons of hope in a free society. B24. Drop all the celebratory language and call serial killers what they really are: narcissistic, violent trash. B25. Let them be forgotten. Let the monsters rot in their cells until they die. B26. Foster's is awful. HUMAN-ING PROPERLY C1. Remember to be one of the good guys. C2. Report criminals. C3. Become an organ donor. C4. Open your mind to the possibility that you're wrong. C5. You can't blame everything on other people. You have to own some of it. C6. A really good thing to do is just listen to other people. C7. Show off less. C8. Keep your expectations reasonable. Nothing's ever perfect. C9. It's good to change your opinion when presented with new evidence. C10. No one likes someone who's constantly telling you how smart they are. C11. Part of any relationship is accepting one another's flaws and history without shame. C12. One of the best ways to look smart is to stay quiet. C13. People don't like being talked down to. C14. Everyone has faults. C15. At some point, you've got to trust someone. C16. Set two alarm clocks. C17. If you have smelly trousers, people are not going to like you. C18. No one should be THAT into true crime. You'll be better off. D19. As a forensics person, wear some fucking gloves. D20. They don't like cops in prison. D21. Sexual behavior with your dog has got nothing to do with you being a good cop or a bad cop. It's just got to do with you being a piece of shit person. D22. Look, if you're a police officer, don't use "torture" and "interrogation" together in a sentence, even if it's a joke. D24. If someone calls you and says, "Don't worry about the missing girl, she's home now," investigate anyway. Q&A Q: Where are the new criminal tips? A: Coming soon. Allegedly. Q: Which rules did Simon come up with versus the writers? A: If you're a fan, you probably already recognize Simon's words when you see them. If not, buckle up. Q: Could you note which episode each rule came from? A: I could, but I'm prevented by my salary of zero dollars combined with my desire to have a life. Q: How is that fair/fun? A: It isn't fair, but here's some fun: Respond with the correct episode and time stamp for a particular rule, and I'll add it along with credit to whoever said it. Some rules are fully paraphrased from multiple episodes and therefore too nebulous to pinpoint. Most are nearly verbatim quotes though, so happy hunting. Figuratively. My friend is a sex worker in the Netherlands and she said that a high majority of her clients like to talk and want to hold one another. Especially her older clients. She told me that over half of her clients will pay more for extra time just to cuddle after sex. So I think Dennis is right about the loneliness aspect of Peter. He came there to have physical contact with a woman (Anna) but unconsciously needed to form a bond. Anna being in her profession is unbiased and wouldn't (or couldn't) deny or reject him.
@UrnestHemingouey2 жыл бұрын
Actually in many private bussineses people choose their clients. And also are morally responsible for the results. For example, when I was into therapy, the therapist was charging less while I was a student. Also we had regular conversations about my expectations and if therapy was helpful. She was also responsible enough to refer other proffessionals if this is appropriate. So I would argue that its morally wrong to exploit peoples loneliness and charge them more than it seems to be appropriate.
@mattiemathis9549 Жыл бұрын
When I was a kid I would watch our neighbors kids when she had clients. I guess I was around 12 when I asked her if it was weird sleeping with so many different people. She told me most men just wanted to talk and be heard. She had many regular clients that didn’t want sex. They wanted company. Now at 50, in a time it’s hard to have a conversation without someone looking at their phone, I understand.

@@UrnestHemingouey "So I would argue that its morally wrong to exploit peoples loneliness and charge them more than it seems to be appropriate."i don't think anybody argue against that, not at least as far as yeah, he shouldn't get told stories and money taken away. (though even then, you would be surprised how many man actually enjoy simply providing, that is exactly why sugar daddies and sugar babies exist, so again, it really speaks of naivety or ignorance or both from this guy's side) , they got charged for minor fraud, But if you mean that she should actually provide that "real" connection he looked for and be "refered to a diferent prostitute who could acomodate his emotional needs better2" lol instead of going through the motions as the business it is? HELL NO. You know what you are going in for with a prostitute. Otherwise it's just you being the opposite of proffessional and adjusted to society. It's you intermingling your personal life with the equivalent of a taco bell worker. bringing medicine, in this case therapy, as the point of comparison is super misguided. He should then go to a therapist, not a prostitue. Same applies to every proffession btw. no matter how much you care about your patients as a doctor, their personal lives shouldn't get mingled with yours. Also, the part about " charging less while I was a student" i mean, students get benefits in a lot of areas from health to transportation, at least were i live. and therapy counts as a health service so it makes absolute sense that you could or would get charged less. porstitution isn't a health service lol, here you are mixing the ethos of medical adjacent services, to that of just entertainment and pleasure. be real for a second. If he really had so many personal issues regarding his lonelyness, he should have invested in therapy rather than prostitutes. But that requires effort on his part, instead of just paying and projecting his fantasy onto someone.

A most excellent episode. It really is nice to take a break from all the majorly heavy serial killer episodes. Not that those aren't interesting (I know they get more views), but breaking it up with episodes that are different is a good change of pace for a bit. Yeah, here in the US information is readily available, but I know if minors are involved the various authorities involved with the crime(s) will withhold the minor's details except maybe their age. Different of course if the minor is a victim or was kidnapped and then found deceased later on (sadly all too common). Loneliness is an interesting thing. I live with my parents and I'm frequently incredibly lonely. I don't have any friends who live nearby. I do have other family around, but they're all busy with their own lives and stresses and such. It can be difficult to talk about anything I find interesting when I know there's no one around with the same interests. It's very draining and I do my best to counter it, but it's difficult. Even back in college and grad school with plenty of friends and acquaintances around I'd still feel lonely at times. It's not at all unreasonable for the man in the first story to have felt so lonely even with his wife and kids in the picture.

That has NEVER happened before??!! Perhaps too many words crammed in? ....just like this message HA! We love ya, keep up the good work.

Hi, First of all this is a great show which is very entertaining, well written and reasearched. I'm from Germany and there were two infamous series of crimes I would like to see in this show. First there is the RAF the Rote Armee Fraktion a leftwing extremist organisation which operated in the Federal Republic of Germany in the 70s and the 80s. Additionally more recent a right wing extremist group the NSU or national socialist underground roamed through Germany. I dont know if these topics are fitting but they are interesting non the less. Thanks for the show and the great writng.

Deniz did a fantastic job with the storytelling in this episode. I really do hope we can hear more of his work on this channel. I was very impressed with how he took some relatively “obscure” stories and turned them into something quite interesting. Well done Deniz. As always, Simon’s reading is top notch and I absolutely love the tangents- don’t take them away.

as far as the episode and the style today, it was quite enjoyable. two stories instead of 1. and it was nice to have two stories back to back that werent filled with the most heinous of crimes. refreshing. and the writing was *chef's kiss*. and simon, our smoothbrained fact boi... *head pats*. and jen. oh jen. you already know.

I did security at a lot of strip clubs and there are so many guys that fall in love with the girls that work there. They'd bring them gifts and pay them hundreds of dollars just to sit and talk with them. They were in a one-sided relationship. It was always really sad.

Yes, the Hells Angels are a criminal organization but they are not officially recognized as such everywhere in the world. They do promote themselves as merely a club who do a lot of philanthropic work but it’s basically an open secret.

I would love to hear about Christman Gniperdoliga although the name I looked up was spelled different. It's reported they're not even sure he's real as there was supposedly three other serial killers around that time and that all of the reports were greatly embellished and all of the stories have similar tellings and the confessions were gotten from torture. They all had elements of selling their soul to the devil, killing an outlandish amount of people, cannibalizing their victims, and having superhuman powers like invisibility and other witchcraft. I'm sure that didn't have anything to do with the torture used to get the coffessions. They were all executed using the wheel; including one of the killers wife and child as well...I'd be very interested in an episode of decoding the unknown that explores the validity of the confessions, embellishments, and of the stories similarities as well as if there is even any real evidence they existed at all.

OK, I do believe sex work---theoretically---should be legal, but the issue of human trafficking is something that concerns me, a LOT. I think the best solution I've come up with myself is to write some sort of legislation requiring any sex-work to be strictly employee owned, and for extremely regular audits and strict licensing requirements to be put in place.

The US doesn’t use Imperial units. They use US Customary units. They are similar to Imperial, and use many of the same names, but they are different. 🍻 Most Americans don’t actually know that. Which I’ve always thought was weird.

I only recently realized that Mike Shinoda is both the rapper in Linkin Park (knew that one) and the "M. Shinoda" from Fort Minor/Remember the Name. Never realized it was the same guy for most of my life, despite being a fan of Linkin Park as well as really liking that one song from Fort Minor. Only made the connection recently when I happened to see his name with the first name abbreviated to just M. when I was going down the rabbit hole recently of who's still in Linkin Park/are they still together after Chester died (RIP legend) that it clicked in my head that I'd heard of an M. Shinoda before, and it wasn't from a Linkin Park song...and, well, that quickly led me to try and figure out if Mike Shinoda had any connection to Remember the Name/Fort Minor and, well, of course he did, it was a small side project of his way back when

This was awesome. Not everything needs to be a gore-fest. Take for instance the many Sherlock Holmes stories. While not true themselves, I do consider them to fall within the realm of 'crime as a subject for entertainment'. They are beloved by many, yet feature almost no graphic descriptions of violence; most of the time only eluding to graphic details.

The bit about Hell’s angels is so funny to me. Simon, you have no idea just how blatantly bike gang members advertise their affiliations. Grew up a biker kid, they were running whole festivals with their gang name attached. Family members would wear their gear all the time, even when picking up their kids from school. I think it does help that plenty of members also work in positions of power. You’d be surprised how many police, judges and lawyers are in these gangs on the side.
