It’s absolutely fine to cry , the purpose is to touch the love chord inside , I have heard this at Hazarat Nizamuddin’s Dargah , where this originated, at various Sufi meets in Delhi and cried every time …. These are Masters at play , Goose Bumps , tears , shivers is normal ❤

Rahat has the technique and the vocal pyrotechnics, and he sometimes strays into sheer display for the sake of it, with the song becoming a vehicle for his artistry.. Abida Parveen has the depth, devotion and carries the soul of the Sufi tradition. When she sings it is like she is singing in the presence of the masters of this tradition, reaching out across the centuries, and becoming an instrument for the message, which is the purpose of this devotional music.

@Jola: I dont know why you even tried to hold back your tears. It is an indication that the rendition has touched your heart. Sufi songs are generally about unconditional love for God and total surrender to Him. So if your emotions are coming out, just let them. Crying while listening to a Sufi song is also a form of expressing love for God.

I felt your reaction deeply, as it's pretty much what happened to me the first time I heard this. So much intensity of emotion and divine energy comes through their voices and the origin of the song itself. It's like an ocean wave that hits and smashes to pieces one's resistance to connect with God's presence in our hearts. These singers are like heart surgeons, but not of a physical heart, rather the God-Heart that lies within all of us. Even without understanding the words or reading the subtitles, the feeling is so overwhelming that tears, goosebumps, sweating etc. are all triggered in the fiery passion of this magnificent Sufi Kalam
