Rocky is gorgeous. It is pretty amazing how tolerant and playful dogs can be with other species. I've been working with dogs almost my whole life and I'm astounded every day by how well they can learn the "language" of other species, especially humans. They watch us and learn (good and bad), but so many human dog owners have very little ability to read and properly interact with their dogs. And we are the smart ones! Seeing Rocky and a kitten interact shows the magnificence of these intelligent creatures

I don't know why this popped into my feed but I'm glad it did. Although German Shepherds can be trained at guard dogs, they also have a different side and gentle, loving creatures that will actually put themselves out for others to nurture them. As this one did for 'putting up' with the kittens 'bats' at paw and face. Just delightful. Thank you for sharing. :) I lost by best friend some years ago now but I think about her every day. It's still a bit tough to watch doggy videos, I'm afraid.

This is a drop-dead-gorgeous German Shepherd! I LOVE them! I have 2 GIANT German Shepherds that are a tri-tone grey and a BIG Afghan Hound. OMG, when they have these tremendous growling events I have to break out the serious artillery: I have to scream at them at the top of my lungs! Then they behave! But we have good times together. There's a song by Maria Muldaur called "Midnight At The Oasis" they all love! When they hear it they immediately start howling. I taught them this without knowing it. When they were little babies I had this little laundry basket I would put them in to tote around with me. I had them in the basket in the car and that song started playing on the radio. I started howling and they did too! So now, this is our 'feel-good' song when we all want to howl! Love the interplay between this German Shepherd and that little kitten. When I was little, I tried to have both a dog and a cat. The cat nearly scratched the dog's eye out so I had to give the kitty away. He was full of himself and way too crabby. That cat 'hissed' at me! That was 'all she wrote' - the kitty had to go! I will not feed something that tries to intimidate me!
