You came here for 5:00, trust me. I’ve scoured the whole World Wide Web for a trick to knitting that last double stitch when finishing short row shaping of the neckline. You’d think these paid for patterns would tell you how to finish or at least provide a link to a video or something but nope. I’ve knitted many sweaters and always wondered why that last double stitch looked so wonky. This video is sooooo helpful. Thank you so much!!!

Best ever short row video, finally I could figure out how to knit nicely those double stitches even if I start with the longest short row, and knit (finish) all the double stitches in one round, at the end. From 5:00 it is amazing, I could not find it in any other german short rows in the round videos! Thanks!

Yessss! that's the solution I've been looking for -- when you knit all the way around and come back to that GSS - how to knit it without making an ugly, twisted loose stitch. -- Ingenious. Thank you so much.

I’ve been looking for a solution to the holes left by the last ds when knitting GSR for so long, so thank you! Does this technique work the same when you reach the other ds (made from the purl-side-to-knit-side turn) further on in the round?

So, if I should put it in writing: knit to 1 stitch before the twisted GSR, slip this stich knitwise, slip the first leg of the GSR purlwise, knit those 2 loops tbl, knit the 2d leg of the GSR tbl, keep on knitting. Is that correct?
@KnittingWithFrogginette4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's right (I you click on "show more" then scroll a bit, I have the written instructions in the video description)

This is one of the few helps that addresses this issue with GSR's, so thank you! The double stitches created when turning from a knit-side-facing to purl-side-facing don't behave the same way as those created when turning from p-s-f to k-s-f when you go to knit the double stitch, or at least that's my understanding of it. Is that correct? I'd done GSR's before, but not when carrying on in the round past the BOR. The gaps were vexing. I've been knitting for many years but needed a help for this, so thank you again! Old knitters CAN learn new tricks :)

Thanks so much for this video. I just completed GSS for my sweater using your old video and I saw this one. The difference I see is how you ended the GSS and continued to BOR. I think I will save this for my next sweater rather than unravel the other method.

Both methods work but I do think the new method is almost invisible.:) I hope you give it a try for your next sweater!

I’m trying to knit GSR in a pattern where all DS’s are resolved in one row when commencing in the round would I need to do the trick for the DS before rejoining and when I get to the other end the DS when joins up with the other half of the DSs waiting to be resolved. Anyone help?

Looks like for the very last double stitch before continuing on to the stitches that were not included in the short rows, she slipped the last stitch before the double stitch without working it, then added the spare leg from the double stitch to it and knit both together through the back loop. Then worked the main leg of the double stitch, then the rest of the round. Everywhere else the spare leg and the main leg of a double stitch were worked together through the front loop in pattern so she only applied this modification to smooth the transition back into the normal round.

Hi Gloria, I have a "short rows overview" video here, perhaps it could give you some context: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJDcc5asj7Fqb80. If you already understand the general idea but have trouble with the particular steps, I recommend doing it at the same time as me, pausing and playing the video as needed.
