Retriever training in the field amongst game scent demands obedience from a dog particularly if other dogs are present. These experienced dogs are working towards field trials.

hello aytee, i know this is a question thats many asked and maybe very simple but i cant get my german wirehaired pointer puppy she is 10 months old to sit , lay down and to stay i hope u can help me cheers

Hi Shaun You will need to start indoors, stay close to her and ask her to sit for just a few seconds praising when she achieves this. Build up the time and the distance you move from her very slowly, making sure she can achieve. She will only do it if she is confident and it is up to you to judge when she is ready to extend these two things. I would not generally make a dog lie down as this is a very submissive position and has little use. Sitting is a much better position for a working dog to see from and to move from.
