What has happened so far:
Carsten Strauch studied "Visual Communication" at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach.
While still a student, Strauch made various short films, including "Futter", "Das Taschenorgan", "Das grüne Schaf" and received many awards for them, including the Hessian Film Award, the German Short Film Award, as well as numerous predicates and prizes at national and international festivals.
Strauch works as an actor, author and director. His first feature film "Die Aufschneider" was made in 2007, starring himself, Rainer Ewerrien, Christoph Maria Herbst and Cosma Shiva Hagen, among others.
In the comedy series "Götter wie wir" (Gods like us), Strauch not only plays one of the two main roles, but also takes on 5 other roles and is responsible as director, author and co-producer. Piotr J. Lewandowski is on board as the second director. Rainer Ewerrien is also on board as author, in several roles and as Ingeborg Gott. The other author is Nina Werth.
Some press comments: "Germany has a new TV highlight... Absurd, but always subtle. Anarchic but always with class... With such a great format, canonisation can only be a matter of time" (Quotenmeter.de),
"A comedy format that is not only incredibly funny and refreshingly cheeky, but also looks fabulous" (Journal Frankfurt),
"In any case, this little series is one of the television highlights of the year" (FAZ.net).
The six-part comedy series breaks all ratings records at ZDF.kultur, is awarded both the German and the Hessian Television Prize and receives a nomination for the Grimme Prize.
Since 2015, Strauch has been part of the permanent ensemble of the successful ZDF comedy series "Sketch-History", which also receives a Grimme Award nomination and is awarded the German Comedy Award 3 times.
