German teens try Malaysian food for the first time. This time we're "on tour" at the Seri Melayu restaurant in Berlin (bit.ly/35zlVVW), sampling an assortment of authentic dishes from this Southeast Asian country.
THE MENU
0:10 Teh Tarik - a hot milk tea beverage which is poured back and forth repeatedly between two vessels from a height, giving it a thick, frothy top.
1:47 Assorted Fried Snacks - a selection of typical fried and grilled snack foods including Satay chicken skewers and curry puff pastries filled with curried potatoes and spices.
3:12 Nasi Lemak - considered the national dish, it's a fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk with a hot spicy sauce (sambal) and various garnishes including fresh cucumber slices, small fried anchovies, roasted peanuts and fried egg.
5:30 Onde-Onde - a boiled rice cake, flavoured and coloured with a paste made from pandan leaves or sweet potatoe, filled with liquid palm sugar and covered in fresh coconut shreds.
