Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, was also critical of this so-called rule. Prabhupada also stated, He is Jagannath, Lord of the Universe, and therefore, everyone should have the right and delight of having His sacred darshan at any time. I would like to add that you are a very eloquent speaker of Vaishnavism, and I enjoyed very much watching you in this film. Hope to see you in person some day. Obeisances. I would like to add here, a short experience of my own, on my first visit to Tirupati. This was maybe in 1983.Back then, there would be sometimes thousands of people who were in line for several days, trying to have darshan of the Lord. I did not have so much time to wait. I was a brahmacari, and was just trying to peer through some temple gates, wondering what presence of the Lord Balaji, lies within. Then a pujari to the temple, came from the others side of the gate and asked me, "Are you ISKCON?" I replied that yes I am in ISKCON. He said come, and he opened the gate, took me through a different entrance to bypass the large lines of people, and immediately took me in to have a most wonderful darshan of Lord Balaji. I did not feel qualified, but received such wonderful mercy do to this pujaris appreciation for ISKCON and the devotees of ISKCON, who are trying to preach sanatan dharma around the world. What a world a difference in this mentality, and the mentality we receive from the pandas in Puri. Srila Prabhupada himself said it was wrong and offensive to prohibit the western devotees from entering. At least there are so many other temples in India, as you say here, will not let ordinary tourists in India enter, but make the exception for western born devotees.

I understand you completely and agree with you Prabhu. Being an Odia & Indian, my apology to you from here. I will be also happy that all devotees are allowed Darshan in the shrine. Please understand from the ancient time the conservative ideology has been maintained so that no non serious individuals entry is allowed. As you said rightly that unauthorized and non serious persons do enter as they can not be detected by merely on looks. The spirtual sankarcharya approach is just traditional to restrict entry & even lord jagannath also knows about this practice. There is a instance when a serious devotee is not allowed Darshan and he challenged & complained lord Jagannath how could he go for yatra in a chariot by making him humiliated. Then lord jagannath stopped and no body could move him. Then the Lord Jagannath instructed the panda in dream to bring the great devotee and only after his darshan the chariot moved. Hope Darshan is allowed in the main shrine, but never mind Jagannath comesout in Rath Yatra. Hare Krishna!

This should end, at least second generation onwards should be allowed to all temples all over the India. I also experienced the media in Puri twisting the truth. There's a simple solution, don't break the temple rules don't try to enter the temple. If you wouldn't have tried to enter, there would be no story. Wait and see Jagannath during Snana and Rath Yatra like I did. There's a reason for his past times, to come out for everyone to see .

Again, 11 years ago I tried to enter from each gate without any fuzz, police just smiled and said that I can't enter so I didn't. This time I did not try was just discussing the principle with the panda until his offensive comments moved me to smack my beads bag over his head. Jay Jagannath . Things are changing fast . The governing body of Jagannath Mandir reserves the right of entry . The fear is not that the temple would be impure but a very human fear that lord Jagannath will be stolen from the temple etc. The curtain stands not because of discrimination ,but because of love for lord Jagannath and the fear to lose him. Some times like you cannot convince a mother that the kid will be safe with someone else ....it is a little difficult to sway the emotion of thousands of sevayaks who have been serving lord jagannath for centuries . There are talks of having an airport at Puri soon and also the increase of pure hearted devotees (not tourists ) will hopefully change the mood of the sevayaks to share their lord Jagannath with all devotees . Irrespective of that Lord Jagannath ....is present everywhere and loves all his devotees likewise .

Besides that I do believe that the whole universe is governed by lord Jagannath and he created this universe. Swamin - - I am an orthodox Hindu(According to your word), We - " all Indians apologize for your bad experience at Jaganath Temple". God jaganath might be already left the temple , otherwise how this type devils are ruling the temple. There are so many pilgrimage places and temples in India. Many of them are open to all & few of them are under above devils custody. Visit Shabarimala (in Kerala) & Mookambika Temple(Karnataka), you will find N number of temples in india open to all. Hindu Gods already left to Russia,Hungary,Poland,Netherland ,USA,Italy,Canad. Because God find the real Good devoees @ these countries. All above devils (Poojaris) will disappear by next few years. Also soon this Indian orthodox Hindu will come to westerners & European's to practice actual Hinduism and culture. Sreela Prabhupada done the great contribution for spreading Vaishnavism and culture @ his 70's , he gave MahaBharatham /Bhagvat Geetha /Bhagavatham & Vedas to the people around the word. The last time I was in Jagannatha Puri I also attempted to enter a different temple that was there and was refused entry. I tried a similar effort to "Preach" my way in and learned that part of the reason why they do not allow Westerners into their temples is because they do NOT want to appear like so many of these bogus Indian Gurus (Rajanisha, Sri Sri, Satguru, Satya Sai Babba, Amaji, etc.) who exploit uninformed sentimental westerners for cash and prestige. That at least makes a little sense and is another reason why the Hare Krishna movement needs to keep exposing all cheating religions, PARTICULALY those who use their Indian heritage to buffoon less discriminatory westerners. If we did that more and also followed your example with non-violent protests in Orissa, then priests in Jagannatha Puri would eventually be embarrassed into changing their policy. Hare krsna prbhuji, Its wrong not allowing a devotee into a temple, but your part of hitting that guy with bead bags was wrong, humbleness is tested in hard time, prbhu. As far as darsan of jagannath is concern, when a devotee not allowed to take darsan of his lord, his carving for darsan of his lord deepens ,his desire to see jagnaath increases thus his love towards jagannath increases, we can percieve these situation like this. Govinda, the only reason why all these rules are in place is because the foreign tourists have in the past misused images of lord jagannath for wrong reasons and hence created this hostility. But now times have changed and i think bhakt from any corner of the world should be allowed in. Feel sorry for your physical separation.However i think you shouldnt have smacked the panda and givn him a reason for creating a scene no matter how stupid he was. In ISKCON we have Even 4th Generation and I will give all my children names of Krishna and his sangopangastras. It’s obviously possible millions of Krishna devotees have now sanskrit names in every corner of the world! I went to Gurukula in ISKCON Peru 🇵🇪 so I didn’t change my religion! Jesus was not European! He was from Middle East like Arabs ! European original Religion was very similar to Hinduism’s different devatas and certainlyrelated to ancient vedic culture! Sanatan dharma is not sectarian and universally applicable. I highly recommend u study ur Shastras better and practice some form of sadhana!
