To us, it's super rude to waste someone else's time. If you keep someone waiting, it says: "Your time is worth less than my convenience". If you know you're gonna be late, just let the German know via text. That's also why we are so direct and don't sugarcoat things. It's our way to be respectful of your time and attention.

Eye contact has something to do with trust. If someone can't look me in the eye, I don't trust them. That's why we do it when we toast with drinks.

When we walk past people, we make brief eye contact, but we don't stare, we only look into the other person's eyes when we're talking face-to-face, so it's not true that we Germans stare. Most Germans don't have slippers for visitors, you can also walk there in socks. The hello he describes can be understood as “Hello?” it means what are you doing?. Clapping when landing is something northern European that other countries do too, but Germans do it often, that's true. And that we always want everything to be regulated and correct.

We Germans stare. Not while walking. But when we are in a bus or a train or when waiting, e.g. at the doctor's or at an authority. Many Germans do not perceive this as staring, but it is in fact staring.

Just because you’re not able to grasp foreign concepts doesn’t mean they are „weird“. What a narrow-minded attitude 🤦🏼‍♀️ that’s how 3-year-olds act

the eye contact thing is traced back to the medival times, if your host wanted to poison you he would have been at least little bit nervous and thats noticible through eye movement . a common saying in German about the topic, " die Augen sind das Fenster zur Seele" - Literally " the eyes are the window to the soul"

Hello again. Nice reaction. When it comes to punctuality, we have a saying in Germany: 5 Minuten vor der Zeit, ist des Deutschen Pünktlichkeit (5 minutes early is German punctuality). And it is very rude to make others wait. Because that wastes other people's time. But there is one thing that everyone understands: It was the train's fault. As the train is often late and almost every German has had experience with this, pretty much everyone understands it. If you can't make it on time, just give them a quick call, send them an SMS or send them a WhatsApp message (WhatsApp is the most commonly used option in Germany).

I hate that staring myself tbf! Punctually and then showing a schedule board of the German Railway. 🤣 Trains in Germany are not punctual anymore. Timetables are just guessing. I have house shoes. But don´t wear em since years. Just barefoot (or socks).
