Tanks normally have a sop for spacing because of artillery and air but this is a game of war per se and not a wargame. Well presented methinks and a HNY
@tabletopgeneralsde3103 жыл бұрын
@@militarywargaming7840 well I know that is the game, but so tight looks just wrong. That does not mean the game was bad or I do not like the players. It is just that I like if the reality is not miles away from the game, that is why I have such big problems with V4 and Team Yankee

@@tabletopgeneralsde310 no I agree entirely with you here and also agree the players and presentation is great. The problem with v4 is it teaches no tactics and actually bad habits methinks which if you try this in a wargame is likely to see you seriously unhinged. Minimal spacing, advance with Overwatch, tank damage fuel and logistics need to be in any game if you are trying to replicate tank warfare along with more realistic terrain methinks..for starters but that’s my opinion for what that is worth. @@militarywargaming7840 , that is the reason to play battlegroup or only a few tanks, like in BA or CoC. If you want to go crazy, play BA tank war in 15mm. That is also fun, but these tight packed tanks are not my sort of beef. Best wishes to you.

FWIW, Under The Cover Of Smoke is not usable under a Meeting Engagement. If the mission doesn't allow pre-planned artillery markers, the card becomes essentially worthless. This is a risk you run taking it to a tournament setting where you don't know mission type for sure in advance. It is very strong though when you can use it.
@danielneal2642 жыл бұрын
Also - the bazooka skirts rule gives the Panzer IV a save against RPG-6, because RPG-6 is FP5+. So, it becomes SA5 vs AT10.

To claim an objective, you need to start your turn with a qualified team within 4". So at 35:35, you would need to wait until the next turn to claim victory.

Right thank you! I posted the video in my local group and they said the same. Got a bit confused from the mission page to “holding and objective.” Always appreciated!

that depends on the mission your playing free for all says ends there turn on an objective, so as soon as they take it. most of the missions have this rule.

At 24:39, the Germans should lose the assault, as the gun teams cannot move into contact. So if the guns were within 6" of the assaulting infantry, they would have been captured (i.e. destroyed).

If you take the command card under the cover of smoke, you put the smoke markers instead Of placing One of your pre planned artillery ranging at the beginning of the game. Read the card to see it

Is there a reason why the models (especially tanks) are always so cramped together?
@MiniatureGameMontage3 жыл бұрын
Each model has to draw it's own line of sight. So typically the models are cramped together to maximize firepower. If a model is behind that need a gap of 1/2" to shoot through.
@hawkins13843 жыл бұрын
@@MiniatureGameMontage I see, thank you for clearing it out. I was just curious, because it's the exact opposite what you would do IRL.
@MiniatureGameMontage3 жыл бұрын
@@hawkins1384 Agreed! I wish they could figure out a way to make it different. Range is also important. If you want your tanks to shoot at short range and avoid the -1 to hit you need them in a line if you're close to that 16" mark. Otherwise tanks in the back will be less effective.

@@MiniatureGameMontage personally i agree with you and well presented by the way. Meeting engagements are unlikely in most battles, Recce yes, but if both sides are advancing only artillery ( which should never be this far forward and is better represented off table) and support units might be starting in pits and slits, everything else one assumes is moving...hey but it is a game and the scenario is very basic so I say do what you want and enjoy . My rulebook says infantry and gun teams can dig in. 88s and pak 40s are gun teams.

Hi. Gun teams can be in foxholes if the scenario allows at start but can't dig in during a game. Some 'guns' are infantry teams but those are mainly light mortars. Similarly gun teams can't blitz.

@@davetye Hi, page 46 in the small V4 rulebook (top left) says the only order gun teams may be issued is dig in and cross here. So they definitely can't blitz but can dig in to get bullet proof cover. Thanks for helping clear that up.
