A wonderful performance by England who never had any problems with scoring goals against top opposition because we some great wingers and strikers. The problem was always the lack of pace in the defence and the fact we really didn’t possess a creative midfielder, until Duncan Edwards arrived. He made all the difference, with his excellent ball control, intelligent passing and the way he could drive through a defence and score goals. His death robbed England of a really creative midfield player. It wouldn’t be until the mid 1960’s that we found a player of similar talent, and that of course was Bobby Moore.

Did Moore score any goals? Sounds more like Charlton offensively at least.

Shouldn't that be WEST Germany?

No because this was still considered the German national team at the time. Technically yes it was West Germany, but they weren’t referred as West Germany until later

No because the allies only accepted That there was one Germany, And it told the people Living in the eastern Germany that the west had not given up on a united Germany,

Thank you, gentlemen: you're quite right. Now I've taken a closer look, I see that that whole business of what the various German sports teams and competitors were officially labelled during the 1949-1990 era is lot more complicated than I realised!
