"Unspoken rules" that are literally written down law. :P Yes, not all of it. The escalator thing also applies in Austria (maybe all of Europe?) and it annoys me when people ignore that rule.

I am from Hamburg and hate this unwritten rule. If there is a staircase - use it when you want to be fast! I only stand right when there are just eselators and no staircase. It is pretty faster when eberybody stands on the escelator.

My Dear Bharat, I must congratulate you for producing excellent informative videos for students who want to study in Germany.I have just watched a few;but I shall watch each and every video produced by you.Hamburg has made an important impression in my mind and I am nostalgic about it. .Hamburg Hauptbahnhof was the first German railway station where I landed and travelled to Lueneburg on 6 june,1979.I came to know about your videos from a facebook post from your Dad Dr. Bhagwan Singh Choudhary. I hope you will continue to produce such wonderful videos for benefit of the students.

Zebra-Streifen Please don't take for granted that the car will ALWAYS stop. As a beginner I once personally overlooked a Zebra-Streifen and did some dangerous driving concerning 2 girls which were just crossing the street on such a "Zebra-Streifen" (which I had overlooked) Always make sure that the approaching car is going to stop! It is your life what's here at stake.
@BharatinGermany7 жыл бұрын
I did see that in Belgium and Netherlands a lot but actually never in Germany. Take care the next time you drive! ;)
@fremejoker7 жыл бұрын
The German traffic law states that the right of way cannot be forced. You have to be observant at any time and you have to restrain if it is needed. You have to be aware at any time that other road users could make mistakes or do not follow the rules. As a pedestrian you have the right of way at zebra crossings, but if a car doesn't stop, don't force your right of way, because you will lose. German traffic works, because you are not allowed to force the rights the law has given you. So at zebra crossings you wait until the car has stopped, if you want to be sure, as a German I wait until I notice the car slows down to stop.

Yeh. It's rather accurate. Though: The bicycle lane and stuff is actually regulated by law (so it's not "unspoken" rules). Concerning the "first out last in" thingy I had to rewind the video and resort to the subtitles because of to much background noise. Regarding the trains: Never ever hold forcibly the door of a departing train open (so that your pal can get in as well). Please do not! The result could be that the door gets damaged and some 500 people have to leave the train and all following trains get delayed and overcrowded => sheer tohuwabohu (chaos). If you encounter the "right" guy you could even get punched in the face for doing such an evil deed.
@BharatinGermany7 жыл бұрын
'Punching' is a bit too exaggerated because nobody likes to have a 'körperverletzung anzeige'. And I really wouldn't describe a person punching somebody else the right guy, even though I get the context in which you are saying that. You are right, people really shouldn't do it or hold the gates open. Some people don't even just want to wait 3 minutes for the next train, get stuck in the gates, people have to push them in and then the train driver would scream at him, saying something like 'was soll das' and so on. It's an uncomfortable situation for everybody and the danger of damaging the public property too, so yes, nobody should do it. Sorry for the background noise. I couldn't avoid it while filming near the road and in the U Bahn station.
@peter8aus8berlin7 жыл бұрын
I know I should not but: Firstly there was a pun involved ("right"). It's offensive against people with right wing oppinions. I appologize. It was just meant as a very, very dumb joke. On the other hand: You can call me what you like: Better 10 fist fights than 1 mass shooting at a school (like that one in Erfurt). That's the "psychological" layer of that problem. Why have I to swallow it? Why have I to suffer getting literally ill because of such a behaviour? Why have I not the right (it is even written law: paragraph 32 Strafgesetzbuch) to defend myself (by appropriate means of course)? And what makes those nuts so damn sure that not some dude like me (I myself am to old for that kind of activities) just loses it 1 fine day? And you can be damn sure that I will applaud and if the police asked me something I would go:"Mein Name ist Hase, Ich weiß von nix". My name is Hase. I dit not see anything. Please spare your breath. I'm an old fart. And hopefully dead soon. The likelyhood that someone does change my mind on this one is purely mathematically speaking virtually zero. I hope you are a man. And you can take it. (I just contradicted myself). So what?
@BharatinGermany7 жыл бұрын
Peter, come on dude. That's why I wrote 'even though I get the context in which you are saying that'. Relax. I completely understand what you are trying to say and I agreed with most of the comment other than the last one. :D I really appreciate you coming here and sharing your input. That's what we really need more of. Talking. Without it, it'll be the same old circle of unwillingness to share what you know and think. Take care and don't die! We need more of you. :)
@peter8aus8berlin7 жыл бұрын
i just have a strong opinion on this issue: Super market around the corner: Recently the boss of that market hospitalized a notorious theft. Would that ever have happened if one were allowed to punch a theft in the face everytime she/he gets caught stealing? But the anger in that aforementioned man has accumulated over ages and he left it out on 1 single person. And do not give me: Then he is not suited for this job. Nobody is suited to be srewed over again and again and from again every single day of ones life. The Chinese have that water torture. Or "music torture". They dit that in Guantanamo. That's even more gruesome.

Hi, I am a student in B.Tech Biotechnology of 2nd semester, studying in my home city Kolkata and from last few months I am learning German. Can you please give me some advises that for which universities in Germany I can apply for my MASTERS degree in Biotechnology and what would the tentative education fees for this course? And what am I supposed to do for passing German language test before joining any Institute?
@MrMindsDesire7 жыл бұрын
Almost all of the german technical universities offer a variation of a Masters Degree in Biotechnology. Where to apply depends on your grades and your financial situation, as cost of living varies greatly between cities. Does your university offer any partnership programs with a german university? I spent part of my Masters at IIT Madras and almost all the exchange students going to germany took part in some form of exchange program.
@sohambiswas64727 жыл бұрын
Yes, it holds a partnership. Then is it better to apply for that University? Or can I apply for another University if my grades prefer?

Reading and writing is ok, any one can do these two task with the help of offline or online resources. But how a person can enhance speaking skills, specially for those who is surrounded by those people who speaks only Hindi, English or any regional language. My family, friends and colleagues know only Hindi and English, so how I can enhance my communication skills in German? What is your opinion?

That's the thing dude. I can't tell you that with 100% surity because I didn't have to go through it myself too. But may be check out the Bachelors in Germany video? As far as I understood, it should work like that 'ideally' but most of the Bachelor courses in Germany are in German, so, yes, in principle, you can do the first year in India and then, apply for Bachelors in a German University but I guess, there will be some language complications. You should read more on the internet about it. Also write to the universities, if you have some specific questions.

Hey Bharat , what are the basic differences and standard of living in Germany and USA ?
@BharatinGermany7 жыл бұрын
Since I couldn't have answered your question correctly as I never lived in USA but Alina did. So, I asked her right now and she is dictating me the following because she is busy chilling in the kitchen. :D Crimes happen more often in the US and Germany is still relatively safer. She thinks you can build true relationships in Europe in general than in the US and she also doesn't thinks that US has a specific kind of culture. The city she was living in, Anderson, South Carolina, there were very less ped walks and people used to do most of the things by car. American lifestyle and specially food is not very healthy for you. She says that she can recommend US for studying, since it was an amazing experience for her during school (but it was costly) but US would never be a place where she would like to settle down. Of course, it's her personal opinion and needs not to be an absolute judgement for US against Germany. I hope it helps! :)
