I hadn’t heard any of the other options, but I really like this one. He is good live. Staging needs a bit of work though.

I really love this song but I love for the all the reasons you mentioned it does give 2010s radio music I love, it reminds me of imagine dragons, but I still love his voice and think he's an amazing singer! Germany please give him better staging though 🖤❤️💛

His voice is strong! But it still lacks a bit of a punch. Very middle of the road. 2 down, 35 to go (3 more from the B5).

Thank you Luke for reviewing Germany's ESC 2024 entry Isaak - "Always On The Run". Regarding two of Germany's most recent ESC entries you quoted at the start: "Rockstars" (2022): I watched the German national final “Germany 12 Points” live, online from the UK, on 4 March 2022, without having previewed ANY of the six competing songs beforehand. Based on my initial impressions of “Rockstars” from the German national final and the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 Grand Final, I thought the chorus is OK, but I didn't like the rap in this entry (on a general note, I've never liked rap). A few weeks after the ESC Grand Final 2022, I read some background information on Wiwibloggs, and analysed the song’s lyrics, including the rap part. Watching the Grand Final performance in retrospect, I noticed Malik showed his emotions during the rap part, especially the lines “Can we press pause?”, “Or do a restart” and “And be who we are?”. In hindsight, my conclusion is that one really needed to read the background information and analyse the lyrics beforehand to fully appreciate “Rockstars”. Casual viewers who just watched the ESC 2022 Grand Final without previewing / reading about any of the songs beforehand (and who perhaps even missed the semi-finals) are unlikely to have appreciated "Rockstars", and just seen it as the first in the run of (average quality?) ballads. That said, I think whichever of the six songs that participated in the German national final “Germany 12 Points” in 2022, I think Germany would have finished last, or near last, in the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final 2022. "Blood and Glitter" (2023): This wasn't my taste in music, but nonetheless, even I was disappointed with the low public vote score of just 15 points. I'd have thought loads of hard rock, glam rock and heavy metal fans all over Europe, Australia and the rest of the world would have voted for "Blood and Glitter", and thus Lord of the Lost would have had no problem scoring over 100 points from the public.

Ok I wanted Galant to be picked by Germany for its originality and artsy vibe but I still enjoy this one. I dont think it is a winning entry but it is very nice and directly goes to my playlist.

I would’ve liked to see Ryk with “Oh boy” winning, but they seemed to have issues with the audio mixing and it didn’t catch as it could’ve. I’m fine with Isaak though, it was my number two!

You should react to the other songs. TWO fan favourites were downvoted by international juries and another famous singer who did not win was upvoted based on fame alone. His voice is decent and it's very Lewis Capaldi. Not Germany's worst effort but not the best either! Also 'Always running wild'? Hahaha wrong song!

Hey Luke, would you like to react to Mahmood's new song released at Sanremo 2024, Tuta Gold? It's definitely worth a listen, too bad it just finished 6th, it deserved a top 5 position.

Good song, great voice, good choice, but not sure it’ll make enough of an impact 🤷♀️ I hope the best for him, but I’m a bit sad that we’ve come back to „radio friendly“ after some more fun and outstanding entries like I don’t feel hate or Blood and glitter

A splended vocalist, but a bit meh song and performance. They need to redo the staging and level up the music during the chorus. A living choir surrounding him on stage, would also be nice.

I have nothing against him. This was really the only song I liked out of this weak NF. But.. after having seen the official Video, there was more potential for the staging. I was hoping they'd recreate that dark parkbench scene from the video. I mean, none of our options this time screamed winner. After last night we should have sent Galant, that was entertainment at least. And I didn't really understand the weird point system. Maybe they wanted to avoid any drama like last year, don't know... just hope next year we get a more musically diverse NF again. I was pleasantly surprised by Galant with "Katze", it was entertaining. Don't know, I am rooting for Norway and hope we get a musically diverse NF next year again.

I love this Song 😍. It was my favourite Song. But hey, we are Germany. No one will give us points. No matter what song Germany sings there, we have no chance.That is so sad. Germany should have boycotted the ESC this year. 😢

Yea that's true if it was an entry from let's say Estonia, Norway or Finland people would talk about it differently
@erinnadia040910 ай бұрын
Yeah Germany was so robbed last year! Because juries can't understand anything that isn't pop! LOTL should have gotten jury love for the vocal rage but no! Because it's metal they didn't 🥲

@@questionmark3219 No they wouldn't, this song would be generic and bland no matter who sent it
@questionmark321910 ай бұрын
@@sav0001 Nope. There have been too many examples where we had bland pop songs from other countries which still recieved some points to avoid last places. Just look at Estonia 2022 or Poland last year.

This song is good. I loved it first listen because the hook just really stuck with me as did the anthemic sound to it and his voice is amazing. But I do still really like them this year even if it wasn’t their best option (Ryk was but just listen to the song yourself). I love this instrumental and the power it has, the chorus is catchy but quite basic and not great, his voice is incredible, he is really personable and I like him so much, the song is very much radio friendly which isn’t a bad thing, the lyrics are good in most parts but some parts are quite clunky and messy and yeah it is quite a mixed bag. It could do well at ESC but the staging needs to be massively revamped because his voice could get him jury support but the faults of the song could also detract it and it’ll be hard for televote support to come to this song no matter what happens to it. I think it could very much come last but it is not a sure bet for last place if anything goes well. It is a 7.5/10 for me but it might grow off of me based on my history with the song.

Isaak is a good singer and I like the song, but it‘s not good enough for the ESC. Ryk with Oh Boy would have been the better choice in my opinion.
@sasat666910 ай бұрын
After LotL's last place last year, we shouldn't be sending anything at all. Isaak has a great voice, but that's not enough- I think Uk and the other 3 of the Big 5 should continue without Germany. The 4 can pay more, for Germany the ESC is becoming less and less important.

0 points for Germany fifth year in a row - 😂 it is so ridiculous - ESC: you want to be in a Top 10 Germany: Hold my beer - we want to run run ... away 🏃🏼♂ 😆

If you don't like the song that's totally fine, but there's no need to spread your shit-talk under every reaction video about Germany. And if you feel the need to do so: please educate yourself first. We might have not done well at Eurovision in the past five years, but the last time we haven't received any points was in 2015.

0 points are very rare in Esc.In any case it's some years ago that Germany got zero points.

This forever is the "elephant in the room" for the wrong reason...the elephant trumpet sound effect in the chorus right after the 1st set of "Runana-eh" cheapens the song. 🐘🐘🐘🐘🎺🎺🤨🤨 He's has a good vocal, but this is a no from me
