If you really want to get to know Germany make sure to see all of it. North where the sea is is completly different from South with the mountains. And i really recommend visiting "Ruhrgebiet" (the most populated area in Germany besides maybe Berlin, it was and still is the Industrial heart and houses amazing museums and "relicts" in Form of old Mines, giant melting Furnances (in my city there is a ~80m high one) etc... )

It’s good to see that this comment section is rather “peaceful”. Whenever I go around on the internet I hear people say “Germany is ruined! Back then it was way better!” or “Merkel’s dictatorship ruined everything.”. Like come on, Merkel isn’t even that bad and Imperial Germany was compared really bad. So it comes to an astounding surprise to me that everyone talks so positively about Germany which really flatters me as a german. I’m proud to live in such a beautiful country with probably the best history in the world (excluding those...ahem...12 “unfortunate” years) and so much wonderful architecture. If someone’s gonna ask me where I want to live I’ll always reply Germany, even if it’s the Caribbeans, America, Japan, Taiwan, France, Madagaskar or Spain, I’ll always answer Germany. @@W4LK3RR Now there‘s three things wrong with your statement: 1. Those estimates are only based of off the fact that the war Syria continues and the refugees with them. Do you seriously expect there to be another 10 years of war in Syria? When its over, the refugees will stop and most people will return. Germany already invited millions of guest workers after WW2 and about 2/3 of them stayed but did anything change? Nope. 2. Germany‘s population is already old and is only going down. Even guest workers from Eastern Europe aren‘t enough to fill many gaps on the jobmarket and so it is good to have some people which can keep things running. 3. Did Merkel cause the refugee crisis? Did she start the Syrian civil war? Did she declare war on Afghanistan/Taliban? Nope. She just takes in those people. You‘re ranting about how she‘s throwing her „own people to the lions“ while you‘re completely ignoring how many hundreds of thousands of people die in the mediterranean. What do those refugees do anyway? They are people just like you and me. They don‘t cause any trouble (as crime rates are at an all time low) and they are adopting fairly well to Germany after a couple of years now. One guy from Syria I know has even joined the local marksmen club! I personally think the refugee crisis could‘ve been handled a lot better. The absolute chaos in the EU didn‘t help either. While Germany, France, Spain and Greece took in far too many (with the latter two having an economic crisis) countries like Poland and Hungary took in none, completely upsetting the balance. But even though many things were handled like bullsh*t, I think we have overcome it in the end. Merkel wasn‘t the best Chancellor (that title goes to either Willy Brandt or Helmut Schmidt) but she wasn‘t the worst either (that title goes to former Nazi Kurt Georg Kiesinger and Ludwig Erhardt). I‘d say she was good and the people like her, so that‘s good enough for me.

And the railway situation is CATASTROPHIC! Also the highways (Autobahn). Basically the whole infrastructure is nearly fucked up. Especially in the area of rhine/ruhr (where I come from). Back in the days the economic power in this area was outstanding! Now is not much left of it...instead you have big problems with organized criminality and unemployment etc. The trend in germany is not good.....thanks to the catastrophic politics the last 20 years!
