Sehr interessant! A well made look at where parts of Germany were in that transitional time. Not anything on the northern urban populations of places like Hamburg, Bremen and Berlin other than the division. But a clear slice of many regions.

No kidding! My ancestors came from Baden-Baden to southern Indiana circa 1860. Some of them formed a mineral springs resort, which they named West Baden in honor of the one they left. It's a town today by that name.
