"This is Germany" (the old version) by Dr. Ludwig is a beautiful composition too. Love to watch a reaktion from you on that!

If you love castles so much, then you are definitely in the right place in Germany.Over 25,000 castles are waiting to be explored by you.

not quite right, Around 25,000 castles, palaces and manor houses bear witness to Germany's history: some of them still stand in their former glory, others are ruins that remind us of times gone by, others are only marked with Signs where the Foundations was in ancient time. Registered are nearly 20.000 to 25.000, but they think there were many more when you think about the old fortresses made of wood, which through time have disappeared completely and without a trace. ;)

fun fact: looking out of my window I see the Hohenzollern Castle every day. Dependiing on the weather, it always has a different look and feel to it. Especially with clouds or during evening/night, when the castle is lit with lights (during Christmas it's actually beautifully red light) it's super impressive. Funny is also at full moon, it looks like the "Castlevania" video game castle from Dracula! ;-) Just love it!

@ Shahin.......The castle in France on an island (2:00) is probably Mont Saint Michel in Normandie. But it is not an castle, its an abbey.

Castles in Germany also had a military purpose. After all, there were no fences around the land at that time.

Germany only became a country and a nation in 1871 through the constitution with the princes, which was also an indefinite contract. Before that, the country was divided into various royal houses. In addition to Prussia, there was also the Kingdom of Saxony, which in turn had its own king. And that's how it looked throughout Germany.

Germany has over 20 000 castles. You might need few days to visit all of them 😏.
@DanVacuum Жыл бұрын
I have visited the most of them by now, and of course they are stunning. Personally, I prefer the real medieval castles over the "fake" 19th century ones. (e.g. Burg Eltz, Reichsburg Cochem, Schloss Meersburg and so on...). If you are ever going to visit those (and stay there over night), I advise to watch out for youth hostels in castles. There are plenty of them in the most prominent places of their cities.

You find many stuff about germany. And on other yt channels how DW or easy german. I have visited the Drachenburg (Dragon castle), in Königswinter. The castle can be visiting by visitors. Pictures and Videos are allowed. The rooms are very nice and old. But this castle is not very old. Maybe 200 years old.

The title of your video is somewhat wrongly chosen Most castles are much older Neuschwanstein is from the 19th century but has nothing to do with the old castles that is actually a fairly new building and as a residence for the Bavarian King Ludwig II who was a dreamer. Most castles go far back into the Middle Ages. We even have original preserved Roman buildings.
@diehandgottes6721 Жыл бұрын
OK, these were only the most famous ones that were rebuilt in the 19th century. I rather like the still largely in the original state are We have about 25000 castles in Germany.

if you are king and take money for political decisions, then you can build Neuschwanstein Castle. But in the end nobody knows why King Leopold drowned in the lake. Even the police refused to investigate. The king never lived in his fairytale castle. He only occasionally stayed in the gatehouse. After his death, all construction work stopped and the castle became a tourist attraction. The castle has its secrets, such as an analogue telephone system, electric light and heating. Things the client didn't want to do without. Steel girders were added and fake marble columns were added. But that doesn't fit a fairytale castle
