This footage is from the first ever Newport Jazz Festival in 1958. A scene from Bert Stern's Jazz On A Summer's Day. I rescued the film from a warehouse in Malaga, Spain where Stern had stored it for many years. He told me that he and Gerry Mulligan became friends and Mulligan visited him at his NY studio. He loved making the film and never made another because he felt he could never top it! He went on to shoot some of the most beautiful women in the world and stars of Hollywood! Stern had quite a life! Thx for posting! Best, Jeff Sado

Dear foxy5301, Hello my name is Neal Miner, I am a jazz bassist living and working in New York City. I am working on a documentary on the legendary jazz bassist, Bill Crow, who is turning 95 years old! He is the bass player playing on this concert at Newport with Gerry Mulligan. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to use a couple of short moments from this video to add to the documentary. I just want to let you know that this documentary I eventually will be releasing is 100% non-for profit and strictly a labor of love that I am creating to celebrate this amazing musicians life. The documentary will strictly live on KZbin for all to see, and for free! Please let me know your thoughts when you get a chance. Thank you, Neal
