One of the great mysteries of the operatic world is why this woman was not in the recording studios putting to vinyl her great roles. She should have had the world at her feet. i only hope that as time goes by more of her performances will appear.

Her voice was clearly huge if one judges from the comments of her contemporaries, but there is something very touching and human about her singing. Perhaps that comes from her vibrato which is rather attractive. She has sense a sense of musicality and sings from deep inside the words.

Tout à fait merveilleux. Une voix puissante et ample, agile dans les aigus mais avec une délicatesse et une expressivité merveilleuses. Elle peut tout à fait rivaliser avec Kirsten Falgstad, Varnay, Nilsson sur tous les plans. Mille Merci

Pitch unerring. Great and subtle legato with tasteful portamenti contributes to impression of giantness. The middle fully as massive and audible as the top.

I don’t like her vibrato or really the timbre either but that’s just my taste.
