This combination of an absolutely beautiful composition by John Propitius , the magnificent perrformance by Gert van Hoef, and the organ at Grote Kerk Harderwijk is one of the highlights of my life of music appreciation. I love many symphonies, choral music, and especially pipe organ. But I have never before heard the beauty of sound, technique, and registration like this. I have followed Gert for about 10 years on his KZbin concerts. I especially appreciated his weekly concerts during the Covid pandemic. God zegene je, Gert.

What an amazing performance! Starts out very calm and delicate, and finishes with a powerful finale. Almost rivals Feike Asma's version of Psalm 42. 13.51 minutes of pure bliss.

All of a sudden it dawned on me today, why Gert is such a genius. Hardly ever does an organist have such a perfectly coordinated second pair of hands, eyes and brains. That's the phenomenon: "two in one" under just one name :) Actually, some historians argue that William Shakespeare was just a single name for more than one poet. That explains the genius. I would love to hear him play on the famous Muller organ at St. Bavokerk in Haarlem. I've heard that organ in person as well as on recordings and it is a historical icon and one of the best sounding organs in the world! It is said that Handel and Mozart both played it.

Lovely interpretation Gert, and the second by John Propitius in three weeks! As I said on the first, JP is a sublime organist, still active, whom I discovered shortly after discovering you on YT mid-2016. So many wonderful organists in the Netherlands.
