I ve been trying the hardest for more than 30 years to find my way to these sonatas and also to the cello and flute sonatas. But I cannot find it. Bach is the greatest composer who lived on this planet and his solo partitas are the real test for every instrumentalist. No Matter how well you play Chopin, Liszt or Paganini or Duport... Bach is the man. Nevertheless I cannot identify anything lovely in these sonatas. Vivaldi's Opus 2 and Opus 5 fit my taste perfectly. Bach adopted Vivaldi's concerto style but concerning his sonatas he turned a deaf ear towards him. Maybe one day I will start loving them. One is for sure: Bach never wrote even one piece one could consider average,let alone"inferior"...

@izanagi21ify6 жыл бұрын
Ray2740 Music They're notes that the player has improvised

I think its notes that don't appear in the original score rather than ones the player has improvised. Some editions are slightly different.

@@arazaratsyan6478 The harpsichordist plays a high D natural instead of a D sharp at the beginning of the next bar. Yes, I can't see any reason why D natural is correct. I think the harpsichordist slipped up and it didn't get caught.

Where else is the fourth movement's theme in Bach's works? A cantata maybe? Or in WTC? I've cracked my head but still no result.

There is a joke among musicians here in Croatia. I apologise if it sounds sacrilegious, it's just a joke. When Mozart died Saint Peter welcomed him in Heaven and took him to meet God. As they slowly made their way Mozart was thrilled to hear the heavenly sounds of what he thought was the most beautiful music one could imagine. It was Heaven's choir and orchestra. Thinking this he met the Lord and the Lord said unto him: "Oh Mozart! I am very pleased you're here. You will be in charge of the ensemble." And Mozart, a little bit confused, responded: "I would be most honored, oh Lord. But... Do I deserve such a position? I mean, isn't Bach around somewhere?" And God looked at him calmly and said: "I'm Bach." ☺ 😁

Why the fck are you mentioning him being a white man? It sounds as if you are suggesting that only white men can have direct lines to god..
@coltonthedrummer6 жыл бұрын
I hate to join this cancer thread but he praised him as a white man because this music is a product of western white culture and it’s ok to be proud of that. Similarly, if there was some amazing piece written in African style by an African man, nobody would have a problem with the comment “what an amazing black man.”
