Gervonta “Tank” Davis, one of boxing’s biggest stars, will return from a 14-month hiatus to defend his WBA lightweight title against undefeated contender Frank Martin on June 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Davis last fought in April of last year, when he knocked out Garcia with a seventh-round body shot in a 136-pound non-title bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. That event, a blockbuster Showtime PPV card, generated around 1.2 million buys. Subsequently, Davis served 44 days in jail in Baltimore following a conviction related to a 2020 hit-and-run case.
Davis (29-0, 27 KOs), a 29-year-old southpaw, will be making his fifth title defense and headlining his seventh consecutive pay-per-view event.
Indianapolis southpaw Frank Martin (18-0, 12 KOs), also 29, shares trainer Derrick James with Garcia. Martin will be fighting in his first world title bout, returning to the ring for the first time in 11 months since narrowly defeating Artem Harutyunyan last July, punctuating the win with a 12th-round knockdown.
Martin had previously agreed to fight Shakur Stevenson for the vacant WBC lightweight title on November 16, but withdrew due to a financial dispute with his team over his purse.

Tank does have a low output. He's extremely patient, but no one has been able to capitalize on that. You've got to be a master boxer with a high ring IQ to beat him. Gotta be able to show him different looks or he will figure you out and knock you out. Tank is tough to defeat because he can fight in different styles just like Mayweather. He can walk you down aka fight in the pocket. He can box using the ring. If you pressure him, he can fight going backwards and still be effective. He's not one dimensional. His adjustment game is next level.

Like I said, Tank is a calculated fighter who doesn’t waste punches and uses his knowledge, skills, and power to dictate and win the fight. Frank isn’t a slouch. I just don’t think he can withstand the power, knowledge, and dominance of Tank. If Frank was fighting anybody else, I would take Frank. But, he’s not. So I am taking the proven one. Lastly, I didn’t like Frank’s last fight. Tank bring it every fight regardless.

Tank isn’t just a power puncher he loves to counter and catch you. Opponents think suffocating him and throwing a lot of punches will slow him down but you’re just setting yourself up. He will catch you. It’s best to not apply too much pressure because you think he’s so short and small. He baits you in and he is very precise with his punches so just still keep a distance and respect that if you don’t you will be another W for tank and he’s sneaky to the body and has stamina. He holds his power all 12 rounds if you could make it. Moral of the story you come in super aggressive it’s lights out. Tank sneaky with his punches and he has a chin and can take body shots his body is well conditioned

Frank is too one dimensional his body movement very predictable his punching power great ,but tank is too elusive and quick with so many surprises though he must deliver in timely fashion or it could prove futile for him if martin can catch him in later rounds as tank tends to get hit often in later rounds.

I think Frank don't have the skills to stay away from Tank or the power to push him back. 70% of his knockouts come from opponents quitting or the ref stopping the fight. If, however, Frank does have the skills to stay away from tanks power for some time I believe that tank will start walking him back and giving him that work. The did spar but its WAY different with 8oz gloves on and no head gear trust me. Lastly, ya'll best believe that tank isn't just going to sit there and get outboxed, if you going to stop him you got to do it physically or else he most definitely will.
