Hi A&A! I am a frequent Vegas visitor. I live in the Antelope Valley, which is located on the Northern edge of LA County, about 250 miles away from the Strip. I have multiple sclerosis (MS), and use a walker or scooter to get around most of the time. The HEAT is horrible for most MS patients, as it can make your symptoms much worse, temporarily. When it is hot, I can not walk at all outside. My vision is affected and it even gets hard to think. The climate here is very similar to Vegas. We have a similar elevation at around 2300 feet, hot in the summer and get very cold on winter nights. It even snows here every few years, plus it can get VERY windy. Vegas is probably about 5-8 degrees hotter in the summer than here. Still wanna move there, as I am an avid VP player though, lol!

The poker story reminds me of a sweepstake I had entered with M&M Mars Candy. They drew five winning names out of all the entries, and I was one of them. They would then draw a single name to win $250k and the other 4 would win a trip to Disneyworld. Basically a 1-in-5 chance at a 1/4 million! (In my mind I had already figured out how to spend it) Two weeks later, my phone rings, they ask for me, I said speaking, and the woman gets a super excited voice and says CONGRATULATIONS! You won! - My heart started pounding and then she said - You won a trip to Disneyworld! I remember being so mad and angry.... My friends reminded me that I still won a prize. (it was for air, hotel, rental car, and $1500) Three days later I called them back and asked if they had any alternative prizes (My job at the time had me traveling 35 weeks a year) and she said they could offer $5k total if I did not want to take the trip. That was a good little consolation prize, but it still took me a few weeks to get over not winning the $250k

The $18 would be every time you drive out and return I believe. For tourists that could get pricey. I would rather have a daily rate as we can drive in and out several times a day during our trip to Vegas.

an interview with an old school stickman would be great. I am currently in dealer school learning dice, the stick calls in the city are all but dead, in fact dealers use the calls to make fun of each other. because technically the calls tell you the order of operations on what to do on the game to the base dealers(not the box). The funny stuff the dealers used to add was just "flare" when customer service was a much bigger part of the game and the city as entertainment. Some say this is now dead because of pooling tips. dealers have become lazy and less engaged because their tips aren't their own anymore and a lot of times tips mostly depend on the drop from high limit. Personally when i play its hard to even hear just the number sometimes to know what to do with my own action when its my turn to act.

The rules have changed a bit. If you're from out of state, you have to wait 7 days before claiming your next $50 portion, and you need to have earned 250 base points in the meantime. Basically, if you're here for under a week, expect to only get $50.

A couple of years before Covid, Red Rock had a year-end VP tournament for its slot club members. They capped it at 250 entrants, and the top prize was over $100K. I played but didn't win. Still fun to think I had a 1 in 250 shot at the grand prize, though!!
