Thank you Blake, you're the first person to give me hope. I'm red/green color blind. I've tried Enchroma glasses with no luck. Your color wheel illustration made me realize I may be able to develop a way to color grade a photo, to actually see a green tree, for the first time. Five percent of males have some degree of color deficiency. I think a program that simplified color grading, for at least one photo for us, might be a real "money maker".
@f64Academy Жыл бұрын
I know right! I wish I could. I have studied the depths of Color Deficiencies but there are about 4 of them or something like that. That makes it hard to make predictable results for all kinds and I can't see what they see to unsee what they see to make something help them see what I see. Lol it makes my brain hurt a lil

Blake...when I first watched this, I was confused (and maybe a little bit intimidated). Having watched it a second time--with PS open to a landscape image--it all makes sense. As a former instructor in a corporate technical education setting, a key to assessing my own level of understanding of a topic is whether or not I'd feel comfortable teaching it to others. Hi I’m an illustrator, I use a few programs that I draw/paint in & generally PS to tweak colours, intensity etc. I’ve not used this though, what an awesome tool... So thanks, this was a great video.

Great lesson, it got me thinking though about the technique with B&W photos, the Ansel Adams look. Would you adjust the White, Neutrals and Black?
@f64Academy4 жыл бұрын
For that, change it to Luminosity Blend Mode for the Selective Adjustment Layer and put a Black to White Gradient Map on top :) Then every color becomes a tone adjustment. Moving the slider to the right will increase darkness within the color, moving left will increase brightness in the color. Blake
@jiml9894 жыл бұрын
From what I can tell in B&W images, only the color sliders in black, white & neutral modes seem to have an effect. Is that correct or is it due to the particular images I chose to test on? Also, would the order in which you moved the sliders matter? Terrific tutorial, btw.

I have 2 questions: 1) I noticed that, when you were talking about Intensity of color, you kept the values so that the total was around 100%. Is this something we should do if we want to keep a natural look or it just happened to work on this particular photo? 2) I know it's a matter of taste, but if YOU had to create a portrait showing Intensity of color, would you keep it natural or would you pump the heck out of every value?
@f64Academy3 жыл бұрын
I tend to rest on the natural side. I try not to go too heavy on color, I try to keep it natural, yet eye catching. Every image is different. But I recommend going to the extreme and then dialing back. You don't know what you'll see unless you take it to the max 😁
