Thank you Blake, you're the first person to give me hope. I'm red/green color blind. I've tried Enchroma glasses with no luck. Your color wheel illustration made me realize I may be able to develop a way to color grade a photo, to actually see a green tree, for the first time. Five percent of males have some degree of color deficiency. I think a program that simplified color grading, for at least one photo for us, might be a real "money maker".
@f64Academy
@f64Academy Жыл бұрын
I know right! I wish I could. I have studied the depths of Color Deficiencies but there are about 4 of them or something like that. That makes it hard to make predictable results for all kinds and I can't see what they see to unsee what they see to make something help them see what I see. Lol it makes my brain hurt a lil

Blake...when I first watched this, I was confused (and maybe a little bit intimidated). Having watched it a second time--with PS open to a landscape image--it all makes sense. As a former instructor in a corporate technical education setting, a key to assessing my own level of understanding of a topic is whether or not I'd feel comfortable teaching it to others. I think one more viewing of this fine video will give me that comfort.

@@f64Academy I did notice this tool behaves in an odd way. Sometimes it changes the K value when adjusting colors, making the image darker/lighter at the same time. Probably this was designed for printing adjustments so it takes into account how printers reproduce colors.

For that, change it to Luminosity Blend Mode for the Selective Adjustment Layer and put a Black to White Gradient Map on top :) Then every color becomes a tone adjustment. Moving the slider to the right will increase darkness within the color, moving left will increase brightness in the color. Blake

From what I can tell in B&W images, only the color sliders in black, white & neutral modes seem to have an effect. Is that correct or is it due to the particular images I chose to test on? Also, would the order in which you moved the sliders matter? Terrific tutorial, btw.

Very good info! Can these actions be used to reduce or remove color casts in images selectively? As an example, removing yellow casts from indoor lights that are creating a cast on white walls or white trim in a building/house?

Possibly, but I think Color Balance would be a better option for that specific concept. You'd have to experiment.

I have 2 questions: 1) I noticed that, when you were talking about Intensity of color, you kept the values so that the total was around 100%. Is this something we should do if we want to keep a natural look or it just happened to work on this particular photo? 2) I know it's a matter of taste, but if YOU had to create a portrait showing Intensity of color, would you keep it natural or would you pump the heck out of every value?

I tend to rest on the natural side. I try not to go too heavy on color, I try to keep it natural, yet eye catching. Every image is different. But I recommend going to the extreme and then dialing back. You don't know what you'll see unless you take it to the max 😁

Instead of photography, I do currently a deep dive into politics and run for parliament in my country - so, your videos are the perfect distraction and relax after a hard day of... (can't tell here). Thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks Blake. Never thought of using this adjustment for something I was working on the other day. I got it done but this would have been soooo much easier. More actions for MyPanel..... (rubs hands together with glee!!) thank you. Red Rover, Red Rover, bring the wrong guy right over... LOL! Made me laugh :-)
