I'd like to see a video on how to fight at the boards as a small and rather short winger (like Martin St. Louis for example).

I'm going to do one better, I'm going to teach you HOW to learn these things and study them so you can improve in any are of your game that you want. 1. Study the best players in games: Crosby, Pat Eaves, etc.. Watch what they do BEFORE they go into the corner. Do they initiate contact, use their hips, take an angle, etc.. 2. Watch what they do when they get the puck. What moves do they make, is their head up or down, do they have support or not... 3. Write down 3-4 plays that you notice them making consistently to win those battles. 4. Make a list of SKILLS and DRILLS. What skills will you need to work on to execute this play. What drills can you work on on the ice or off the ice to get more comfortable and confident in this situation. 5. Start to implement this in practice. 6. Take it into games. 7. BOOM. You'll now see progress and improvement and you're on your way to MASTERING a new skill. 8. Move to the next area of your game you want to improve and repeat.

How many reps?
@clapbomb55017 жыл бұрын
Does shooting off ice effect shooting on ice that much since you are at different heights on each surface because of your skates? I shoot off Ice a lot but when I get on ice it is Harder to shoot because I'm so used to being at a lower level.
@CoachZac7 жыл бұрын
Cut your off-ice stick down so it comes up to the exact same spot as your on-ice stick. You should have a couple older off-ice sticks that are a little shorter. Simple solution to a simple problem. Off-ice shooting is the #1 way to develop an elite level shot. It's the ONLY way to get enough repetitions to really see progress. If you aren't seeing awesome results from your off-ice shooting you are training the right way.
@clapbomb55017 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'll try that!
@CoachZac7 жыл бұрын
You bet. It works! I had this same problem when I first started training a lot off the ice too, it just felt weird. So make SURE that your stick comes up to the same spot off the ice as it does on the ice and then BOOM, you won't notice any difference.
