To me, the number one trait to excel in sports as well as in life in general is mental resiliency, being the ability to recover from injuries, from setbacks, from hardships in life, to adapt to a changing environment, to changing circumstances in order to get back on track and thus, not letting these factors force yourself off your path, be it in sports, be it in life. For me, mental resiliency is the key component to pursuing any type of goal with consistency and persistency. All of us will encounter setbacks and hardships at one point or another. Without the ability to endure and recover, even the most alluring goals will be nothing but unachiveable dreams.
