Good question, you just have to program them together using the same settings. They work together right out of the box with the same factory settings, so you'll only need to program together if one or the other has been changed to something other than factory settings.

Does this radio distort horribly like the DLR1060 or did Motorola fix it?

The antenna was moved to the other side on this radio. This was done so to fix any existing distortion issues as well as provide some additional venting and improve overall audio quality. We hope this helps!

You're very welcome! Yes, the 900 MHz could sometimes have some interference issues due to it being so sensitive. The audio quality on this new radio is very impressive. Let us know if we can help with anything else.
