Its ok, just be aware that none of it matters. You get free gear so getting gear is pointless, you get free levels because they want you to skip 95% of the games content. If you beat a hard boss just be aware next patch everyone will get that gear without moving a finger. Nothing matters. your time spent in game is not respected and your achievements will be devalued the second blizzard sees they are in the least bit prestigious. Nothing worth doing really. Thats why people are leaving the game in droves.

I havent played Wow since Dragonflight launched and i must say im totally overwhelmed by this video and in general what the game throws at u when u havent played in a long time. Can confirm, my boosted char had all ilvl 424 gear that I could not upgrade. Additionally, it made her the second most geared character I had given I do not do Mythic+ or PvP content. Also, the fact that she had all renown's boosted to twenty, and one at twelve (the latest being zero still), it unlocked LOADS to do for all my characters (perhaps overwhelmingly so)... and I have a lot of them I split time on. So, I cannot wait for warbands and am glad that so much of my time can be split among alts and still see them fairly rapidly geared like before with the Dreamsurge event(s). With the smaller area of the Emerald Dream, it also helps in getting to the proper locations to participate. All around a nice patch, I feel, and I am excited for the future of the game, which is certainly new from before Dragonflight.

I feel like a need some an adderall rx to get geared nearly enough to be accepted into dungeons and raids before season/expansions end. At the moment we have to do so many different things and spend so much time for each piece of gear only for that gear and effort to be negated by a 2pt ilevel increase piece of gear. Judging potential teammates based off of that gear level excluding anyone but the best you can find, it's fucking depressing man. As a relativly new trying to learn player the usual answer to a question is vote to kick rather than anything helpful.

You can pretty much do the entirety of the "catchup" part of the video within 6-8 hours. Player skill is higher than it used to be and since the aforementioned catchup is usually pretty fast, it makes SENSE to deny the lower geared player; they're likely NOT the best they can find, they couldn't even put the small amount of work in to get caught up OR they're even worse and think it takes longer than it does. and most people would rather vote to kick because information is readily available nowadays and if you didn't care enough to at least skim it before you showed up, don't even gotta study it like detractors LOVE to claim, then of COURSE they can't be bothered to coach you. The modern game is a very clear system of give and take

There is definitely a bit of "decision paralysis" that can come with it, depending on the content you do. Definitely not worth thinking too hard on it unless you are cutting edge content pushing.

@@Yashu333 That creates an inverse problem: A "best option" will be solved (nature of the community), and then, with no further sense of power progression, you will have even more "dead game" callouts because we do not get stronger in any way. Human brains generally like the whole "make number go up" mentality (which is why the item power and level squishes were always received so negatively, despite not lowering the average percentage of damage you did). Take that away, and you'll take away a lot of incentive for people.

If you are starting from scratch, I recommend playing through the campaign storylines. You'll pick up replacement gear along the way. All this stuff about tier gear and gear sets won't come into play until you cap level 70. Play through the campaigns starting with Waking Shore, learn Dragonriding (its a lot of fun) and just enjoy the game. All of this stuff will be waiting when you reach lvl 70, there is no rush. At level 70, you'll probably be hit by all the endgame stuff that was hot months ago but now is pointless. At that point, you can head right to the Emerald Dream content and gear up. But for anyone under 70, play the campaign.

I think this has been my issue with WOW that will hopefully end(?) with next expansion. Gearing is the game. If you are not gearing, what are you doing? What is there to do, really? Hopefully delves and soloable dungeons alleviates this to a degree. I mean it can be fun running around collecting flight stones, for a week. but after that, meh. For those looking to hope back into WoW or haven't started Dragonflight, don't worry about the gearing. Just play the normal campaign. For one, gear doesn't become a factor until you reach max level (70). If you aren't 70 you can't even equip this stuff. Play the campaign storylines, you'll pick up replacement gear on the way and just enjoy the story and the dragonriding. When you reach max level, you'll get hit with a bunch of quests to go to all these end game zones (Primalists Future, Forbidden Reach, Zaralek Caverns, etc.) At this point if you want to just get to where everyone else is, then that's the Emerald Dream. There are a number of ways to get some gear and there a number of ways to upgrade that gear. An easy way to gear up is to do the Emerald Dream campaign. Replacement gear again. You'll also gain a currency called flightstones. You can use this to upgrade that gear. So you pick up some gloves finishing a quest. They are at 415. Pretty good. But you can also upgrade them a few times and now those same gloves are 450. And the extra sprinkles on top, you can even convert them into tier gear every couple of weeks. Those 450 gloves now become part of a tier set at 450. But if you just loaded up Dragonflight and you are lvl 60 something. I wouldn't worry about it. Run the campaign, gear and level up from there and get your footing. The gear isn't going anywhere.

It just means that, instead of wasting all your time standing around town trying to find groups to do content or raid, you can fly about the open world and do a plethora of events, actively playing, for raid gear. It might take longer, but at least you are not standing around town waiting for 24 people to get their act together. There is more content now than you can feasibly do in a week unlike Cata which just had a few things for you, like the raids and dungeons with weekly lockouts.

Anytime I come back to the game after a long break I take everything off my bars and start from scratch. Get my basic spells on the bar, the three rotational spells, my interrupt, and a defensive/heal. Start slow and remember what they do and then choose talents that are mostly passive. Once you remember how to play in a couple heroic dungeons then you can switch to the more complicated builds

I would imagine it’s more for a completionist people who enjoy having a decent item level on the ten or more alts they have. For people that haven’t cared about DF since launch and want to play the new patch like me it helps to have better gear to solo most content easier. Fun is an issue sure but the question is what do we want to be better the product or the process. I prefer both honestly. In ff14 gear is a means to an end but in wow it is the whole game. I hope delves make the gearing process more enjoyable and provides a decent entry into wanting to do more difficult content. Sorry for the essay😂
