Thanks for this. I'm just wondering if this might be out of date though. When I display the map first, the value of the center point displays in the text element underneath the map, but as soon as I drag the map to change the centre, the text disappears. So there is no realtime updates of the centre point displaying. Could this be that this functionality is resource heavy. (polling info from google with every movement of the mouse)?

Hey you're welcome. So at 3:40-3:50 when the map is moved around and the center point (shown dynamically inserted around 3:15) that is fed into the text does not update when you have the same setup? I have checked just now and it's working fine. Double check your dynamic blue expression around 3:15 as a starting point, then also check you have installed a Google Maps API key into your Bubble installation per kzbin.info/www/bejne/paaqhWhrpJtrntE.

Thanks for your video! how can i get the user current location each time that user open the map?
@NoCodeAcademy4 ай бұрын
You're welcome. Try ta search in plugin store for geolocation and add that Geolocation(GPS) tracker element. Then you can add a workflow either when the page with your map loads or some other trigger you think would be appropriate to use each time you want to get the user's location. There's a video on my channel about using this. Note that when you're dealing with getting location from people you'll need to get permission the first time around and if they clear their cookies or access your app from a different device you'll need to get the permission again. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the video! I have a question, is there a way to export the Bubble database into an external storage like Firebase by any chance? I know you can export it as CSV and then try having your own relational uid to relate the tables, but I am stuck at figuring out what data is relational and what is not. I am trying to migrate to FlutterFlow, and since Firebase is integrated into it natively I thought I would migrate my Bubble data to Firebase to create a consistent storage as well as not have to rebuild everything from scratch. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey you're welcome. I am not familiar with how databases in Firebase work unfortunately. And other than CSV exports, I don't know how you'd get the data out of Bubble to do what you're suggesting. Looks like an opportunity to optimize or refine your data structure as you rebuild over in Firebase.

Hey, How do I get the "center address" at 3:18 as state. For me it is only possible if I create a custum state. Sorry for this beginner's question, but I don't know how to get this dynamic info. I am grateful for any tips.
@NoCodeAcademy4 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for the question -- the short answer is that the "TEST Map Location Picker" you see in blue text at 3:18 is the map element's name. All map elements, by default, have a "center address" which you see as the second part of the blue expression. Does that help you find yours?

@@NoCodeAcademy When I dynamically select the icon, the next option is height or width but not "center address". I assume that my icon is not a map element and therefore does not correspond to the states of a map. But I don't know how to solve this. I tried to rebuild everything exactly as you did but I'm missing something. Thank you for your previous answer.

@@fabu.l hi you've answered your own question as to why "center address" is not there, it is because you've entered the icon as the element for the first part of your blue dynamic expression, use the map element as the first item in the expression and then you can choose "enter address", hope that helps.

What if I want the user to double click for the pin to appear? instead of having the user somehow have it centered on the screen, I feel like the first one is a better user experience. How do I do that?
@NoCodeAcademyАй бұрын
Hi thanks for the comment. Let's start here -- the key challenge faced in the scenario you present of a user double clicking for the pin to appear is that the location data of where the pin is clicked is embedded in Google Maps' world and you need to extract that data into Bubble every time the user double clicks. Bubble doesn't know about this clicking action but it does know about the center map position -- hence the solution presented in the video. I do agree there are ways to have a better experience than what is presented here but one of the things that is helpful to grasp early on in software development -- no code or regular code -- is that there is a trade off between the amount of time spent to achieve the exact thing you want versus having a solution you can call "good enough" within under an hour's time. It's up to you in deciding what is a reasonable time investment so if you're still wanting to look, there are other map plugins on Bubble you might try out where developers have extended functionality beyond Bubble's out-of-the-box capabilities so you might try those. Hope that helps and good luck.
