It’s a matter of a God not letting a mortal get away with striking against his blood, the Cyclops, Poseidon’s son, prayed of Odysseus’ death, to not deliver would send a bad message and set a bad precedent that you can strike against him and live.

I love the fact when Odysseus began to plead for his life and beg Poseidon to put it behind him, you can see Poseidon asking himself "Am I doing the right thing?" But the moment Odysseus tries the open arms method, he gets angry, thinking he's still the same man after ten years.

I'm actually crying how- I’ve never been able to heard Odysseus's mom sing the waiting part with his crew, like I knew she had to have been bc it's *her* part in The Underworld. But for whatever reason I can hear it loud and clear in this and it makes it hit a billion times harder. It's so beautiful, all the emotion and effort oh my god 😭

This is the first time I see the interpretation of the dead actually helping Odysseus. It is way more common the concept of hearing the dead as something negative or the dead wanting you to join them. I believe this interpretation might be further from the cannon (who knows, I might be proven wrong) but I enjoyed it very much.

The animation for this is insane. You can see the effort you put into him speaking And the effects with the water is also really impressive. Very creative. When Poseidon grabbed Odysseus and threw, him you can feel the intensity of the moment. Very well done. Easily my favorite.

UUUGGGGGHHH *GOD* I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DO THIS, I was waiting for someone to portray the ocean ghosts as being helpful and encouraging rather than working to drag Ody further into the abyss. The Underworld saga already established in its own way that the dead can only speak to the living in phrases they used in life, so this part of Get In The Water always felt like-- Polites telling Odysseus to calm down and get his bearings, Eurylochus urging him like 'hey, remember everything you have learned on your journey, and remember us. Live for us. Get back home for us.' And his mother reminding him "I'll stay in your heart" as in, "I will always be here and I will always love you, death can come another day." The crew opening the bag so he can get oxygen is just.... oh that's so emotional 😭 Thank you for blessing us with this GORGEOUS animation!

Ah, one of my favorite Epic animators returns! Excellent animatic! I love Poseidon's design, and the crew opening the bag to give Odysseus some air is genius. Personally I don't think Poseidon should push him off the raft and into the water. I think it's more intimidating that he's commanding Odysseus to get in the water. He could easily tip the raft over, but he wants Odysseus to submit and give up his life. It's only when he says "DIE!" that he's run out of patience. But that's just my opinion, it's a great animatic either way.

Really love your interpretation where while Poseidon is saying that he can’t forgive Odysseus, he’s slightly empathetic (I hope that’s the right word haha) towards Ody- I don’t think I’ve seen anyone yet depict him that way, and it’s such an interesting take on his character!!
