Oh Iris, you wonderful creature. Thank you for bringing my book into your home and for hanging out with me through paper. It's such a gift to see it through your eyes and to see you dive right into the deep end. As I shared with you in my ridiculous voice note, I have a similar way that I dissect business and self-help non-fiction, and you've seriously inspired me to take in creative books like this. Letting them get to our soul, picking out what sets our heart on fire... all of it. I LOVE the way your journal turned out and the way you took what you liked from the book and from me (omg) and made it your own. It made me infinitely happy and you do such a great job without veering away from your heart art. This means the world to me, thank you for reviewing the book. Even if you had terrible things to say, this would be awesome. Less awesome, but what you've done here has just filled my dopamine levels for quite some time ;)

CAYLEE!!! I can't tell you (but I'll try) how over the moon THRILLED I am that you liked this video! I had the idea for such a long time, since before getting this book, but then when I GOT this book I KNEW it had to be the first one I would actually film in this series. I really hoped for that perfect combination of both a video that I love making and am excited about, but also one that is useful to others. THANK YOU for writing such an amazing book that is helping so many people and that made this video easy (well, relatively easy, there was still the crippling self doubt and procrastination that somehow always creeps into my process, urgh) to make!

Good morning, Iris…..I LOVE book reviews, especially ART book reviews!! So fun, so informative. Of course, I’ll be buying this book because of the things you just mentioned. Cayley Grey sounds like an amazing artist, but most of all, I love the “perfectionist” quote you read from her book. I think perfectionism can stop some artists in their tracks. I never thought of quantity versus quality…brilliant statement especially when using different supplies, trying new techniques, and generally, just playing at your art table. Thank you, Iris, for a really fun podcast that got the juices flowing this morning. See you next time….hugs 🤗❤️🙋

Great review, Iris. I noticed Johanna Clough in there, I'm subbed to her, very inspo vids on journalling; she also has tutorials on how to make a journal from scratch using book covers. Thanks for your bullet points of what stood out to you in the book, very handy. I love using actual books for my art journalling, the print looks great underneath my art. Also saves time rather than making a book from the cover itself :D But I've also used a cover, fun to do. I love your enthusiasm! Thank you x

Hello and Thank You Iris for this review. 1. I got hung-up when I read the supply list. About midway down the list it says "Selection of papers for the inside pages (see "Paper Chase" sidebar) (level up: Choose a Color Palette)." I cannot find this anywhere. I looked online too and found some way crazy stuff, but nothing helpful. Was this forgotten? or what? did I just miss it even after 2 look throughs? 2. I love the idea of making a junk journal specifically to put book reviews into and to capture my thoughts, ideas, and inspirations. Thanks, again!
@iris-impressions-art2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jean, I'm so glad you liked the review. I've had a look at the book, and I can't seem to be able to find the 'paper chase' sidebar either. I hope my video gave some ideas at what types of paper you can use but in any case here are some of the things that I like to collect for junk journal making: paper shopping bags, music paper, envelopes, book pages, leaflets, flyers, information booklets, theatre programmes, greetings cards, old maps. Pretty much anything goes (I recently found a pretty box my teabags came in, it's made of fairly thin cardboard, so I flattened it and put it in my stash!). A couple of things to remember: 1. it's easiest when paper is matte rather than shiny, it will be easier to work on top of. 2. each piece of paper will be folded (half the size) when you create the signatures. Hope that helps! Love your idea of a junk journal for book reviews!

@@iris-impressions-art Thank you Iris. I do know and love all those papers you mentioned. I am just finishing one of Natasa's of Treasure Books napkin covered envelope journals. It is so pretty. I pretty much follow you and Nastasa (I'm probably spelling that wrong). You all give me so many ideas and I'm trying to rest lately - back problems. Thanks, again.

Jean! I invited you to email me and I think that made KZbin not approve my comment. You've found the first print error. It seems the sidebar was cut out of the final printing. Iris has a great list there. The leveling up for that supply is just choosing all your favourite papers in a similar colour palette. My favourite junk journals have always been the ones where I curated with colour. I'm so excited that you have the book, have fun with it. ♥
