Wonderful video! Much needed for CA residents! Kudos to you. Do we need to be currently employed to avail PFL and SDI benefits? Let’s say if someone got laid off 4-5 months before due date what will be the impact?

Hi! My due date is 5/29 and my highest quarter is Q1 of this year, so I fall into this category of needing to time my claim right! I know we only have til 49 days after the disability to file the claim. So should I wait until July 1st to file my claim? (I have about 10 days of wiggle room so I hope she does not come early!) I noticed on your other video that you can enter the date you want your DI claim to start if it’s different than the date your disability started.

Hello, I give birth next month however I have currently already been on disability for most of pregnancy due to complications however it ends on my expected due date. Am I supposed to reapply or submit a new claim for disability again to gain the 6 weeks after? Also can we file for PFL before we give birth?

Hi I’m confused on when to file the disability because there is processing time and also 9 days they want to wait, so isn’t it better to file at least 6 weeks before the due date and not 4? Also you may deliver earlier

That’s all correct but unless you have complications your physician may not agree that you are unable to work due to disability so it really depends on your physician and your line of work.

Do you receive a final notice payment of paid family leave

Recently I filed for my husband he got a final check but I don’t remember a special notice stating it was the last payment.

I'm so bummed because my disability starts 4/10 and if I file then, I don't get to count the last quarter of 2022 which was my highest earning up to today. If I filed just 10 days earlier on 3/31 I would get $1,000 more each month (because it would count the last quarter of 2022! Any tips for something I might be missing?
