Thank you so much for this!! As a Tenor coming into the world of Musical Theatre, there is such a high expectation to belt super high (A4-C5 in certain cases) and I always worry I am ruining my voice with bad technique. I'll definitely be following these rehearsals (as well as the mixing tutorial) with my Singing Straw Pro!

Great instructions! I appreciate the simple straightforward directions. I would very much appreciate a bass range instructional video if one doesn't already exist. This straw is absolutely amazing for sure. I find it very helpful to transition so far but belting the bass notes seem to not want to project for me like I think I'm capable of doing.

Omg I was about to ask for this! I recently found my mix and I feel like I can’t do a proper belt anymore, any tips? 🙃
@SingingStraw3 жыл бұрын
Ah, interesting - "proper belt" is subjective. Remember, it's all a spectrum, so if you're feeling like your "mix" is too light, try leaning into it more with more vocal fold closure and TA engagement. Squatting or even using an exercise band (stretching it out with your hands while singing) can be helpful!

I really appreciate your videos dear Singing Straw Team. I would find it very helpful if the exercise would keep a constant continuous flow. With the instructions in between I tend to lose the rhythm and timing and struggle to match you when we're ready to keep going again.

Question... I do straw exercises every day since discovering the singing straw. It's brilliant! Curious though... I find I don't stay in the my chest voice throughout the warm ups as the scale's climb. Am I supposed to be trying to keep it in my chest, or is switching to my head voice a natural and OKAY thing for growing my range? Seems like I'd want to keep it in my chest for the sake of strengthening my "belt," but I can't seem to do that with the smaller straw. Thoughts??
@SingingStraw Жыл бұрын
Always do what feels best for your voice! The straw will help guide you so don't worry too much about what is "right" or "wrong" just do what feels best and natural - that is always a great place to be!! I hope that helps!

For the second exercise, is it bad if I switch to head voice as I go higher ? After a while I start straining so I have to switch
@SingingStraw2 жыл бұрын
Not bad at all, allow yourself to move registers, ultimately you want to strengthen your "head voice" so much that it blends into your "chest voice" - and you have more overlap!

I just got my singing straws and have been trying to get adjusted to them. It seems that after a certain point in my range I cannot sing in my chest voice. I just switch to mix or falsetto, when in my chest voice I can sustain my chest voice a bit more. Not sure if I'm doing it right any tips??
@SingingStraw3 ай бұрын
Remember that it can take some time to get used to the resistance! Always do what feels best for your voice and use 2 or 3 at a time if needed. Keep practicing! You got this.
