Therian hate mainly comes from a misunderstanding, being a therian is VERY similar (if not the same thing) to having a spirit animal. It’s literally just looking at an animal and saying “he’s so me fr!” Honestly I bet most of us were Therians as children as someone who was obsessed with animals as a child and was constantly yapping about my spirit animals

Therians are those who involuntarily identify as something nonhuman animalistically (otherkin are the same thing but without the animalistic part) usually nonphysically (though there ARE physical therians, just less common) based on either animalistic urges, species dysphoria, feeling like something animalistic 1-100%, or something similar. Therianthropy has nothing to do with quadrobics, tails, and animal masks, and not all therians have past lives but past lives may be a cause (although, not everyone who has a past life as something nonhuman are otherkin or Therian, it’s just something that can correlate depending on the being). Not all are born with therianthropy nor otherkinnity, however it is never a choice. Environmental factors and neurodiversity can cause this. Trauma is a very common cause as well.

Furries have an interest in anthropomorphic animals (animals with human characteristics such as talking and standing on 2 legs, etc) and some furries dress up as their fursona by wearing a fursuit. Being a therian is an identity. Its not a choice. You have to awaken as one. Therians have a spiritual connection to their theriotype/s and most therians believe that they were their theriotype in the past life or lives. If you “choose” to be a therian, then you arent a real therian. Hope this helps :)

I don't hate Therians, not at all, I just don't understand them??? I mean, some say they think they're animals. (which they do not, if i'm not mistaken.) Others say they were animals in a past life, which I also saw many other people (who are also Therians if i'm correct) disagree over. I also looked it up on google, and people also disagree over THAT. So It just really confuses me over what a therian exactly is. My point with this is that people have sometimes gotten offended by my comments over therians, and it was not that I was trying to be rude, i just didn't understand. (And still don't.) Can I ask a honest question to all the therians out there? (No hate Ofc, I love them and I’ve felt very related to theriantropy at times.) 🫶 I know that therians are people who have a connection to animals or believe they were one in a past life, but one thing that sort of doesn’t sit right with me is how many videos there are in the community about people venting that they wish they were still animals. I understand wanting to connect with that part of you, but why spend your whole life wishing to go back in another life?
