I'm really glad they reduced the artifacts theme. Academy should be good when you get the cards for it, just like Reanimator, Mono Red, U/W Cheons, etc. It shouldn't just always be the best deck you can get. You could even stumble ass-backward into it just by taking good artifacts, Draw-7's, and counterspells that you want anyway, then randomly open Academy in pack 3. And it was yet more reward for drafting Blue, as though that was necessary. It's fun when multiple strategies can win, not just when the brokenest decks have no peer.

While a lot of the mtgo cube changes are odd, i do like the addition of become immense and berserk to give green a new angle of attack. Oh and the delve whale, ethereal forager, is really cool. It also combos well with time walk 😮

Carnage Interpreter is such a great new staple for agro vintage cube decks. I love seeing new additions. I would live to see more new additions like building a aeve, progenitor ooze deck in cube would be sweet

I've really liked cookbook in my kinan/zirda/blue guy who's name I can't remember/grim/monolith infinite mana decks as a way to get back ballista when you're going off or the enablers (kinan etc) back from the yard in general. FWIW.

Carnage Interpreter is really weird, because you'd think they tested it and said "Well, it's great if you draw it late but not so great early" when the reality is that it's kinda great almost all the time.

I think when they design some of these straight-to-eternal cards they start with something balanced, then start turning up the knobs. Then when they’re done, someone turns the knob once more and ships it.
