A mess in the house means we live in our house, we don't have it to just look at it. We live in our house. 🤣 A professor in college once told my husband that his wife didn't let him sit on the nice couches. He said I can't come in with my shoes from the outside, I really don't live in my house, it's just for company. And it's true, some worry about keeping everything so tidy , they forget to live in it 🤔🤣
