Thats some basic things that we are taught at home ig right from our late teens. It all comes from upbringing. We can't expect this from her. She cribs about things in mumbai also and abroad also. She doesn't understand that there's life beyond hair nails and makeup.

General rule of the west - hard work pays off. It's expensive to get services like house help bc those jobs are paid well too, it's fair :) soo many students come here every single year and end up being successful through their dedication and hard work. And veg options might be hard to find in some areas, not sure where you guys looked but I have been to a lot of places in US and Canada and I always manage to find good vege good options AND Indian food everywhere I go. I might stay a day or two without it but then I end up finding some place. If nothing else works, try tiffin service for home cooked stuff but that might not be available everywhere. You just gotta find the right place

NY and CA has some of the best indian food (for the US!). Since you're heading up to SF soon, it's a little further down in the bay, but I like going to Komila Villas for idli and vadas. My Bangalore-an husband loves that place! They also have an A2B which is part of the chain in India. Other good options include mexican food or thai food. I'm also vegetarian and the beyond/impossible patties sometimes get to be too much. When you're in CA, you have to try in n out and just ask for a grilled cheese + try their animal fries. It's very cheesy so just be careful in case you don't have too much dairy
