I was lucky enough to be there. In the 1st half, the way you transitioned from Kinderszenen to Children's corner seamlessly was such a genius idea: it all felt so right! Despite the unfortunate noises, I was deeply touched by the story you were telling. In the second half through the Encore, your emotion can be clearly felt by us, and the whole hall was all yours. By the end of the concert I could truly feel that you were enjoying every note you played. Such an convincing and memorable performance, really proud of you!

When I watch your videos, I feel like I'm a part of something big. It almost feels like I'm about to witness it from birth to climax. I'm witnessing the rise of a talent. My biggest hope is to hear this live with my own ears one day. This video makes you feel like you're a close friend. It's like I'm helping you prepare your inner world. Sometimes it makes me sad that you prepare for such difficult things alone. But when I see the comments and the faith people have in you, I realize you are not alone. Especially when you meet a new piano and get to know its limits, it reminds me of my relationship with horses.

I am intrigued with someone who shows their whole process and reveals themselves so openly. I love your playing, especially Chopan as you use the music to tell a story. I don't see too many pianists who know how and when to linger. They play autonomically, same speed, and stuck in the same gear - all the right notes but somewhat sterile. Feeling what is inside and letting it come out is part of your forte - your natural gift. I like it a lot.

Really thoroughly enjoyed this episode. The insets of you when you were 6 that you included throughout the vlog created a sense of realness of growth. Snippets of the Chinese dragon parade and food added a nostalgic feel for me, as well, since this is my year and I am also reminded of having wonderful meals like that with my parents. You share feelings and thoughts about the process and journey of each event which is enlightening and instills courage and confidence in those of us wondering if our nervousness before performing is not uncommon even with professional performers like you. The technical aspects behind the scenes are what I also look forward to, such as how important it is to be attentive to the acoustics of the venue with respect to the projection of the piano sound, how the piano itself performs and the variety of audience-produced noises. I never realized there were so many details to consider in preparation for a single concert. It’s interesting when you mentioned hearing the clothes rustle, the coughing and the shifting of the position in the seats because I find that distracting even being in the audience. I feel so fortunate to have been able to enjoy your vlogs through the many years. It’s like a fun variety show but performed by one person. You bring always a fresh authentic experience to the table, the human with the flaws and imperfections, but it is these very qualities that inspire us as viewers and learners and appreciators of your stories. Thank you and sending you all the best in your continued success!🌷🎵🎹

I have no idea how anybody can walk (or run or crawl or drag themselves ) out onto a stage and face 88 noisy demons + the audience + composers + the acoustics + their own thoughts + their own body + their own mistakes + anything and everything. But I'm so thankful that they do.

Tearing up when I watched the segment where you played Bach Prelude No. 1 before the concert. I think the present-childhood connection really resonates with me -- I recently got back to playing the piano after a 10-year break, and Prelude No.1 was one of the pieces I (re)started with. Filled out the form, hoping to see you in SoCal sometime!

Thank you for giving me an inside perspective of what you go through, mentally and physically, to get ready for a solo recital. As writers, we all have different ways of approaching our writing. I'm sure it's the same way for pianists. Keep doing what you do best, and always remember... be careful out there.

My friend may not have been able to attend the signing, but said he thoroughly enjoyed the concert. The way you structured the program as to emphasize the shifting moods of the different pieces, and present them in a continuum with smooth transitions as if they're part of a larger piece by preventing applauses in-between is a compelling concept. It's like an album. I tried the app, and although it still has some rough edges that needs some polishing (understandable as it's an early release), I see great promise in it. I hope more people (especially artists) sign up on it. Kudos to you and your dev cofounder for pushing it through. PS: I was impressed by your energetic Schumann Sonata No. 2 performance on DW Classical that was just released.

Anecdotal set of observation of coughing and sneezing from a southern Finnish city makes me think that there is a lot of flu going around right now. I've been sick for two weeks now and I'm *still* not fully recovered. With this pace it's going to take at least another three days. *sigh* It's always great to hear your thoughts and practising before a concert TIffany. This is probably my favorite content on this channel because it gives me a glimpse of what it might be like living and working as a performing pianist. I'm hopelessly mediocre when it comes to my own skills but I try my best and I still very much enjoy playing the piano. Listening to a professional play fully realised programmes is inspiring. I especially enjoy whenever Bach is included in programmes. So many composers and pieces take their roots from the baroque period even if it's done unawares. Although many of the greatest composers are absolutely aware of the influence Bach and say Scarlatti have had on their work. And when you listen to something and you discover moods and logic that seamlessly connects something so old with something so new musically I think it's genuinely cool as a listener and a pianist. Even if it's a consequence of harmony for instance and not some deeper connection between the old and the new. Thank you.

A delightful video. I love the piano. When you talked about playing when you're tired or sleepy, it reminds me of being frustrated for not being able to play a piece at a tempo that I played the day before because of lack of sleep or too much sleep from a nap I just had. Then I watch you prepping for the performance and tuning yourself into the piano you will be using. I am a bit in awe. Thank you for your dedication, it is inspiring.

Came in from Los Angeles just for the concert and I was so happy I did! So it was a great piano that really liked you (and enjoyed your attention to have him get some tender strokes and nudges by the technician), in a great, bidirectional hall. It sounded good in the headphones here. This tight coupling of all sounds and noises probably intensifies the contact between artist and audience, so after some effort, it kicked in and you could lead the hall into the story that you had prepared for them. Feeling the "weight" of the people by their noises, having to push them up, make them fly with the music. I could feel the snippets that you revealed in this video. Totally happy for you, for a successful performance.

How you felt about the piano in the end? I actually liked its tone a lot. It feels soft and gentle (when needed) yet still glistening. It matches perfectly with the warm lighting and the vintage-like concert hall, all giving an atmosphere of memories. Thank you for having this vlog. I think I know more about why you chose such a repertoire. The link to your own childhood memories are touching. Actually, after the concert, I kept thinking about those times when I first see you on KZbin, what I was doing, and what I was like by then. Another form of memories. I know I felt your emotions during the concert (especially the Chopin preludes), but just until now I realized how deep the feeling was. Truly lucky to be a part of this. Be happy, although happy may sound too superficial for a musician. But still, be happy and healthy.

so touching, so sensitive...I hope there is a gentleman to take care of this sensibility and wrap it with protection and suport...good luck for the concert. One more detail: the concave back curtain behind the piano makes you hear all what happens in the hall, and even your own body movement noises, as it works like concentrating all on one spot. And seconldy to my opinion, the piano should be at least 60 cms more towards the first seating row.

You're so right, and I felt that same - we were suspended together with you during the Preludes. From the audience I can hear so well the phrasing, the voicing, the colors and the intense emotions. It was magical and thoughtful, a memorable performance of the amazing Preludes. Thank you so much for a wonderful concert. One question - what were the thoughts behind the paring of Bach and the Preludes in the program?

Unrelated: Bach Fugue #2 was used as the theme song for Sesame Street's "Alphabet Chats" segment, and had lyrics set to it ("A B C D E, C D E F G,..."), which of course I immediately think of whenever I hear that piece. I wonder if there's some respiratory thing going on in the Bay Area, if you were hyperventilating at the end of your concert after hearing so many coughs during the 1st half. Besides that, it sounds like all else went well with the concert, and the food and parade were a bonus. Also congrats on your career starting to really take off.
