I'm 55 and when I was a kid I had two television role models: Mr Spock and Maxwell Smart. Odd combination. Of course, I went on to become a big fan of Inspector Gadget. Frank Drebin isn't bad either.

I miss him very much really funny show. I’m so glad he did it. He’s such a great guy. Few years ago I was listening to a interview on radio with his daughter in and it is great to hear how she talked about her dad and I wish they’d do more kids, smart videos and movies and TV shows God bless Dan Adams soul!!!

Bernie absolutely loved played Siegfriend, he said it gave him great release. He always appreciated Don Adams for letting others getting the laughs other than the star. This was a big change from when he was on the Danny Kaye show and Danny nearly gouged his arm for doing an ad-lib and getting a laugh from the audience.

He never said that. 🙂 What happened was that his assistant knocked out the Chief with a pistol butt, while Siegfried was talking on the phone to Max. Max asked, "Couldn't you have just shushed him?" And Siegfried replied, "We don't shush here!"

I remember an episode where max went after a mad scientist who worked for chaos. This chaos agent had his laboratory in a cave on a deserted island. I wish Kopell was in the movie version as Siegfried. The actor who played Siegfried was only five years younger than Koppel and Koppel was reduced to a cameo. It would like Vicki Lawrence playing Mama now... just the right age (Kopell was in his early to mid-30s when in the series, and about 75 when the film came out -- he's still around as of this comment.) Of course that movie missed a lot of the point of what made Get Smart so great... Max was a likeable fool and 99 actually liked Max despite her obvious superior intelligence. The writers/director/actors -- normally really on-target -- just totally misfired. (EDIT: To clarify, it's those two actors who are normally on-target.)

That revolver was not fake. Don Adams had 2 identical revolvers, one of which he used for EDC, the other as a prop on the TV show. So, yeah, it was probably a good idea for him the block the hammer with his thumb. How about doing a little research on the actor and the TV show, before you make a comment? 🙄

My Good God.......... could they make that annoying laugh track any more annoying? I remember even as an eleven year old how annoyed I was with the laugh track and third rate production process. The first few seasons were pretty good, especially the writing; afterwards you felt they were targeting an audience of morons, as the episodes became more and more lame & ridiculous as the show moved forward
