Dan, great video. To be frank, much more useful than what was presented on the dotnet channel and Scott hanselmans channel. Looking forward to API section.

Really great demo and explanation. Easy to see the simplicity and benefits yet rigor with controls.

What you entirely skipped over (and I find a HUGE CHRONIC issue with Microsoft documentation/learning) is that you didn't discuss what has been "pinned" here in terms of authentication. What if you change your password for github? How is the Azure web app authenticating to the github repo? What authorizations does it have? How does one review that? What happens if your Github account is locked?

A valid point. Tough to cover everything in a short video though....especially something as specific as what you mention. :-) I'd have to try it, but I believe you'll have to re-authenticate in that case.

My free access to Azure has expired, so static web app hosting won't work, any work around on this? Can you suggest something similar to this that can host free personal websites for testing? cheers
@DanWahlin Жыл бұрын
If you setup a regular Azure account you can use the free tier Static Web Apps provides.

Is it convenient to build my widget for third party in a static web app?
@DanWahlin Жыл бұрын
It would depend upon if your goal is to deploy a website that shows the widget. If you are only intending to build and package your widget you'd likely use another option.

why not use devops instead of github ?
@Microsoft365Developer2 жыл бұрын
Both are absolutely valid options. Depends on the chosen path in your company or project.

can I use just python flask with html?
@DanWahlin Жыл бұрын
I haven't used python flask with HTML before but if it supports acting as a static site generator (where it generates static HTML/CSS/JavaScript content) then it can work with Static Web Apps. Although that's not a directly supported feature you can select in the Azure Portal, there's a custom configuration option as you create your resource where you can tell it where to find the build output from the static site generator, APIs, etc. Here's more info on the custom option (but again - it would require static content - Static Web Apps doesn't handle rendering dynamic content and you'd need Azure App Service in that case): learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/static-web-apps/build-configuration?tabs=github-actions
