Thats crazy. That you would pick the instincts over the jrl onyx. Not only are they noisy as hell but they get hot with just one hair cut and after a few cuts they get all loose. Seems like your a little bias

I was about to buy the rose gold fx one with the charging stand. After hearing your review does the stand not work with this clipper? Only the battery charger? There is no dock for this clipper to keep a charge?
@YouTubeBarberAcademy9 сағат бұрын
@@melissahabernigg no but if you look for some of the older ones they have stands without removable batteries. As for the FX one the only way it can charge is by taking the battery out and plugging it into the charger.

Ok I'll just buy an extra battery then with them. Thank you for the fast reply I almost bought the docks for these.

Great video! been learning alot obout the dfferent machines available. I am not a barber, but I started doing my own hair years ago. I decided to step up to better machines than what you get at big box stores. I just picked up the BabylissPro fxone BlueFX shaver, trimmer, and clipper, which are great for my needs. I think the BlueFX clipper is a little better value, as it comes with 6 guards from .5 - 4. Although, I am not sure how its blade is compared to the other Babyliss blades. Also, I should never run into the battery life issue, as I will only be cutting my own hair. There's something about a good fresh cut that boosts they way you.feel.

I heard in other videos that the JRL's fading system is different from other? what exactly is different there?
@040.sanchez3 күн бұрын
Bro, I got a JRL Onyx Clipper and everyone says that the fading system is different to other clippers. What exactly is different about this clipper? I've never cut before, so I would cut using a tutorial from KZbin. Does that work if the people in the video have a different clipper, such as Stylecraft or Babyliss, even though the fading system is different on the JRL? So can I copy the steps in the tutorial 1 to 1 from videos where people use other machines than JRL and it would look just as good?
@YouTubeBarberAcademy3 күн бұрын
@@040.sanchez my friend don’t get hung up on all the semantics between the clippers. You can learn with any of them and you can do great haircuts with your JRL. What they are trying to say is the lever opens slightly more, which is only a very slight amount in perceptible to the eye, and it will cause hardly any difference in your haircut you’re good bro just get some reps in and you’ll be fine.
@040.sanchez3 күн бұрын
@@KZbinBarberAcademy Thank you bro you mentioned that the JRL opens up more than other clippers. If I’m watching a tutorial where they close the lever all the way, should I close mine all the way too, or just to the last step? I wanna make sure I’m handling the difference right so the fade looks good.

wahl magic clip, or wahl seniors are best for beginners. i’d even throw the sc rogue and sc rebel in there too. i wouldn’t get anything with a taper blade only bc it wont take out the first guideline and he’ll need another clipper with a fade or taper blade to take that line out. if i had to pick one i’d say rogue or magic clip

I'm looking at the models, especially JRL one and i can't find the model numbers or release times anywhere! I've only found your channel yesterday and it's amazing, but i don't have an easy way to tell which is the old or the new model. Even JRLusa has 2020 in all its urls and i'm confused af lol. Is the JRL Ghost same as onyx, just different colour? Also what's the difference between StyleCraft Pro Instinct vs StyleCraft Pro Instinct Metal Edition, is the metal heavier, how much? Online descriptions really lack the basics :(
@YouTubeBarberAcademy2 күн бұрын
@@jeroxpavlic there is only two models you have the 2020 C and the Onyx they have one that is white. There is no difference and a sidenote the previous model is an excellent clipper as well and came with a taper blade that is very forgiving.

@@KZbinBarberAcademy Thanks! I found a JRL FF2020 Silver Collection of clipper and trimmer for 254 eur, while SC pro instinct clipper is only available as metal edition for 218 eur, and trimmer separately (179 eur regular / 198 eur metal edition) JRL ghost set sounds like a steal, which would you recommend?

Went with sc pro instinct metal trimmer instead of clipper - I'm balding and go closer to 0 anyways, but not shaved. Wanted better flexibility to use it on beard, and added a heat comb, hoping it will have the biggest positive effect on self grooming beard.
