Welcome to the largest ballpark in the world in terms of capacity, and the oldest ballpark west of the Mississippi River. The Dodger Stadium is infact the 3rd oldest ballpark in America, behind Fenway Park in Boston and Wrigley Field in Chicago.
It's history is one thing, but the atmosphere created within is another. A cathedral for baseball, 56,000 fans make this one of live sport's most impressive spectacles.
From it's art deco architecture, location on top of a hill that overlooks Downtown Los Angeles and it's colourful seating plan, designed to represent LA life from its beaches to its mountains, this is as about as iconic as a sporting venue gets.
Tickets range from $50 upwards, for the cheaper seats head to the higher tiers, this also provides the best views of not just the field, but the LA landscape around. Take some time within the Centrefield Plaza, an area of food and beverage outlets and don't forger that you can take in your won water and food, as long as you have a clear bag. If you don't, there is a bag drop facility in the parking lot.
The distance to the Dodgers Stadium is not far from Downtown LA, but leave in plenty of time, traffic leading into the world's largest ballpark can get very busy. One of the best ways to travel to and from is with the free shuttle bus for ticket holders. Union Station and South Bay are the pick up and drop off locations.
Experiencing a live game is one thing, but if you really want to dive into the stadium's history, then a stadium tour is your best bet. Adult tickets cost $25 and take place through the day starting from 10am.
On the tour you will be guided around all the main areas of the stadium, and even get to walk around the field too. The tour guides are as brilliant as you might expect, talking you through the origins of the LA Dodgers in Brooklyn, New York through to present day.
If you are a sports fan, visiting the LA Dodgers for both a game and a tour must be two things on your bucket list whilst visiting LA.
