Very good explanation by comparing “average golfer with elite golfer”. Most youtube films is about pro swings and can possibly lead to difficulties unless you are not aware about necessary conditions in order to make it work. Thank you Chris.

Thank You for your most practical and easy to follow u tube instructions, very helpful, Great information. Chris have you ever done a frontal slow motion on your swing instructions? I’ve tried following you on your demonstration, but it would be very helpful for some of us to actually see the actual moves in slow motions. I’m a fan of yours and well be for a very long time. Thanks again for your time and your inspiration. Bob

Your vids are great. I had 4 lessons over the spring/summer, the first lessons in 30 years which really started to help play the damn game properly. Finally. You are finishing the downswing job!. I spray white lines on the floor (practice area) and now my divots come after it! Hello!

I really enjoyed this video - would love something similar with the driver I struggle with "attacking" the ball to soon getting out to in path and early extension. Hope you can explain how to get the feel to position the driver "in the slot" in the downswing

Will this also apply to the modern release? The style that is more of a snap of the wrist instead of rolling release.

You have a different release video where you emphasize getting the club head as far away from you as possible when releasing. Were there issues with that drill that are resolved with this one? Or is that one valid as well?

As a newbie.. I watch these moves ( standing straight up while swinging) and others like it.. and I start trying to hit the ball standing up... bad bad bad... all practice movements should be with the correct lean...so we get good impact.

I have release problems bc I was taught to let the club go out long towards the target, so arm never rotates. Will try this on range. Assume this applies to driver also.

Excellent content as usual, Chris! Especially as how my transition and my release are my 2 areas for improvement this off season. Question though: This seems to be aimed at making my left arm have all the feels through impact, whereas me, personally, all my downswing and impact feel comes through my right forearm/wrist. How can I adapt this to train my right arm what to do?
@blakejago2812
@blakejago2812 2 жыл бұрын
My feels are in my right hand also my coach got me doing a similar drill but instead hold the club just in your right hand. hold it toe up to the sky on the right side of your body arm extended with the club parallel to the ground then swing it through letting the momentum of the club do the work to your left side with the toe up at parallel to the ground also. Worked a treat for me playing the best golf of my life at the moment purely from that feel. Hope that helps 👍🏼
@Stekman101
@Stekman101 2 жыл бұрын
@@blakejago2812 it does help. Thank you! It took a few swings to get rid of the "holding on" feel, allowing the club head to pass my hands. It's also ironic how Chris's latest upload is a video focused on the trail arm going into impact 🤣
@andreysto1202
@andreysto1202 2 жыл бұрын
I struggled with this problem for years and share what works best: 1. Stage 1 warm up on the range hitting a few balls like Chris suggests BUT keeping your feet together. Thus, no hip movement, hardly any shoulders and knees movement. This isolates everything and makes you do the "roll release" so needed for 99% of us. The point is to over exaggerate the move and close the club face with your wrists. 2. Awareness that you must deliberately close the club face on the downswing. Many amateurs think a stronger grip is enough. It,s not. Without knowing this (not much said about it) you're doomed to close the club face with your body, not hands. As a result, out-in swing path and a chicken wing release. Hence, use your wrist (rolling over not flipping!) and you'll get the pro release! Verified))

@catman1050
@catman1050 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Chris. Enjoyed the video. Something that came to mind while I was watching this was my root cause for chicken wing. My inability to rotate my hips fast or far enough in a consistent manner may be my cause. If I rotate too slowly, my mind automatically realizes that I will be too close to the ball and instinctively I try to compennsate by pulling my hands towards my chest so I do not strike behind the ball, hence the chicken wing. If I rotate too fast or far or perfectly, and my ingrained thought is to pull my hands towards my chest, I may skull it. Would this be a logical explanation of my problem? How do I teach my body to rotate far enough and fast enough such that the club will not be manipulated by my shriveled brain, lol?
@lintulauta123
@lintulauta123 2 жыл бұрын
This is maybe not the root cause i think. Seeing a golf pro would be the best option. But maybe you could do strike drills and educate your hands to straighten to impact and hit down on the ball. Maybe your body would support that movement?
